This article explores literary mediation in adverse and unconventional contexts in Mexico and Chile. Through interviews, a relationship is established between literary mediation and the categories of care ethics proposed by Joan Tronto. It is concluded that literary mediation is organized through a methodology focused on listening, supporting both leisure and self-knowledge and emotional containment. The importance of establishing mediation objectives related to literacy and personal growth is highlighted, and the mediator's responsibility in recognizing the participants' needs is emphasized.
