Abstract

The article discusses the characteristics of Phocaean red slipware Form 3 and Bii LR1 amphoras that were discovered on an excavation site in Meath, Ireland. An analysis of the slipware, which dates from the late fifth and early sixth centuries A.D., indicates it was manufactured in Asia minor or modern Turkey which implies long-distance contact during the early medieval period. The 16 pieces of Bii pottery was manufactured in the region of the Cyprio-Syrian watershed.
