Objective: To describe the implementation of advanced practice nursing in Latin America. Methods: Integrative literature review, using five databases as the research source and based on the guiding question: "How has the implementation of Advanced Practice nursing in Latin America been happening?" Results: 176 studies were identified, however, the final sample had 11 articles published between the years 2016 and 2020. The selected studies were aggregated into three categories according to thematic similarity: the initiatives, potentials and challenges for implementation of advanced practice nursing in Latin American countries. Conclusion: There is still much to be discussed about the EAP implementation process, as establishing the exercise of advanced practice with autonomy and independence for clinical judgment, diagnosis and prescriptive actions and the formation of new profiles of health professionals will be a challenge.
