Objective: To measure the Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) and compare children with and without parental care. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 160 schoolchildren with parental care and 100 orphans in Kerman, Iran. After fulfilling the questionnaire voluntarily, a clinical examination was performed, and indices such as decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT), molar-incisor hypoplasia (MIH), modified gingival index (MGI), traumatic dental injury (TDI), and malocclusion were recorded. Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS version 25 via the ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient test, Chi-Square test, and descriptive statistics. Results: Children without parents scored poorly for OHQRoL items compared to those with parents (p<0.001). DMFT was not significantly related to OHRQoL; however, missing teeth were correlated with the CPQ11-14 overall. Also, the TDI index had a significant relationship with CPQ mean score (p=0.02).Moreover, the difference in the mean CPQ11-14 score in children with TDI in the two groups was significant regarding the quality of life (0.031). Conclusion: OHRQoL differed significantly between children in the two groups, which can be influenced by gender and habits. Due to the vulnerability of welfare-supported children without parental care, these findings emphasize the value of preventive and health-promoting measures for this group of children. Background: Centers for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) play an important role in identifying, treating and preventing infections. Paying attention to equipment and human resources of these centers can increase the effectiveness of these activities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of these centers in order to plan and improve the quality of services. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study enrolled was carried out on 247 physician and midwifery offices and 141 service providers of sexually transmitted infections in Kerman, Shiraz, Tehran and Babol. These centers participated in the research by completing the checklist. The data were analyzed in Stata 11 software using descriptive statistics (frequency, frequency percentage and frequency tables). Results: The findings showed that about 66% of offices and 97% of institutions accepted health insurance, 93% of offices and 89% of institutions had access to a laboratory to refer patients, and 13% of offices and 67% of institutions had a monthly report of STIs. About one-third of physicians and midwives and more than two-thirds of institution officials were aware of the Ministry of Health's guidelines on STIs. Almost half of the physicians, midwives and institutions mentioned the lack of feedback from the healthcare system as the most important reason for not participating in reporting STIs. Conclusion: The following criteria should be addressed in order to improve the quality of services provided in centers for patients with STIs: continued presence of physician and midwife, easy access to laboratory and pharmacy, and admission of insured individuals. Background and Objectives Blood transfusion plays a critical role in health system. However, one of the main problems is the excessive order of blood in teaching hospitals. The aim of the study was to investigate the current pattern of blood order and consumption at three teaching hospitals in Kerman city. Materials and Methods In a cross-analytical study, blood order forms for 3182 patients were collected from three hospitals from May to July 2010. C/T ratio and TI were analyzed with descriptive statistics and frequency table tests. Results The overall ratios of C/T (Crossmatch/Transfusion) and TI (Transfusion Index) were 1.33 and 1.81, respectively. The results are considered to be desirable as compared with the standard figures of C/T< 2.5 and TI > 0.5. Out of 7731 blood orders, the highest number pertained to heart surgery wards with 1704 (22%), and the least to ophthamology ward with 7 (0.09%). Conclusions Our results show that blood order and consumption in three teaching hospitals in Kerman city during 3 months were desirable. Although in comparison with other studies in Iran inconsistencies in blood order and consumption were seen.
