The B. Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering in Ukraine has a long history of studying the thermal properties of molecular crystals. However, the Russian military aggression and invasion of Ukraine has made scientific investigations and events more challenging. The III International Advanced Research Workshop on the Thermal Conductivity of Solid States at Low Temperatures provided a platform for experts to discuss and share their findings on the topic. The workshop had an international dimension, with participants from various countries, enriching the event with diverse perspectives. The workshop covered a range of topics, including thermal conductivity modulation, nanostructuring's impact on thermal transport, and quantum effects in solid states. It is shown that based on the concept of a toroidal self-gravitating ring vortex with a swirl (with an orbital motion along the torus generatrix), it is possible to explain all the main morphological features of the famous Hoag ring galaxy, including the still unexplained rotation of the central elliptical galaxy. The III International Advanced Study Conference "Condensed Matter and Low Temperature Physics 2023" (CM&LTP 2023) took place in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The conference aimed to facilitate communication between professional experts and young scientists in the field of low temperature physics. The program included presentations on various topics such as superconductivity, magnetism, nanophysics, and materials science. Scientists from 17 countries participated in the conference, engaging in lively debates and fostering potential collaborations.
