The article discusses a study on the effectiveness of muscle energy techniques in reducing pain and disability scores in individuals with acute lumbopelvic pain (LPP). The literature search resulted in two randomized controlled trials, which revealed that muscle energy techniques reduced worst pain scores over a 24-hour period and seemed to be effective if combined with exercise. Limitations and strengths of the studies as well implications for practice, education, and research are discussed.
