Abstract

The article discusses the prevalence of root-knot nematode on sunflower in Malnad region of Karnataka, India. It cites a study suggesting infections of sunflower plants by phytoparasitic nematodes and pathogenic fungi, with root-knot nematodes as the common, that cause severe damage in both seed yield and seed oil content. It also notes a study that observed several parasitic nematodes in sunflower including Rotylenchulus reniformis, Meloidogyne incognita and Aphelenchus avenae.
