Abstract

The article discusses the highlights of a workshop on the sericulture industry in North Karnataka, India held at Belgaum on March 5, 2011. Cooperation Minister Shri Umesh V. Katti focused on the importance for women to engage in sericulture. Horticultural University vice-chancellor S. B. Dandin called for more extension units such as the Regional Sericultural Research Station (RSRS) and research extension centre (REC). One book released at the event was "Reshme Krishi Kshethra Margadarshike."

Abstract

The article discusses the highlights of the inauguration of six post-cocoon units in the town of Molakalmuru in Karnataka, India on February 9, 2010. The event was presided by Central Silk Board (CSB), Bangalore chairman Shri H. Hanumanthappa with the welcome address given by CSB Joint Director Shri B. Prakash. The post-cocoon units for Molakalmuru were provided through the sericulture catalytic development programme (CDP) schemes being promoted by the Government of India.
