Background: Nursing education is a challenging process that merges knowledge and practices to prepare nurses to deal with life and death situations in a complex and challenging environment. Therefore, nursing students need to be motivated to progressively advance their academic and professional performance to meet the demand of the nursing profession. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate how students perceive the motivational level during their studies and the correlation between motivation and students' academic performance profiles in Jordan. Methods: Descriptive correlational research was used. A convenient sample of 335 students was recruited from selected nursing colleges in Jordan to answer a self-administered questionnaire. A self-administered questionnaire, "Effect of motivation on the health of College Students," was used to answer the research questions. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS (version 22). Frequency or percentage was used to analyze the demographic profile, and Spearman's rho correlation test was used to determine the correlations. Results: The overall mean of motivational factors among students was high, 3.69, and the highest five motivators were When the student finds the material to be stimulating and practical, the class is easy, and the student can get high scores, the midterms and finals are imminent, the average in the class is high, and when the student like the professor, with means of 4.65, 4.43, 4.37, 4.37, and 4.22 respectively. There was a significant positive correlation (significant 0.04) between the student's academic performance and motivational factors. Conclusion: This study helps administrators of colleges of nursing and health to identify motivating factors and practice implementing them to support psycho-academic conciliators. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to address the prevalence of denial fusion and gemination in a sample of Jordanian dental patients Frequency distributions of these conditions among different types of teeth are also presented. Method and materials: The data were collected tram examination of radiographs from a random sample of periapical films. In all, 9,373 teeth from 1.660 dental records at the Faculty of Dentistry, Irbld, Jordan, were evaluated. A tooth was recorded having gemination if its crown was enlarged with a normal root and the tooth count was normal. A tooth was recorded fused if the tooth crown and root were enlarged and the tooth count revealed a missing tooth Results: Fusion and gemination were detected in 18 and 21 teeth, respectively, with prevalence of 0.19% and 0.22%, respectively. Therefore, double teeth were found in 39 teeth with a prevalence of 0.42%. Maxillary central incisors were the most commonly affected (3.6%), Mowed by mandibular third molars (0 9%). Conclusion: Fusion and gemination are uncommon conditions, but they are important dental anomalies that could affect any tooth in the mouth. Recognizing the condition will facilitate the endodontic. prosthodontic, periodontic, orthodontic, and surgical clinical management of such teeth. Abstract: Aim: This study investigated self‐attitudes towards schizophrenia, depression and anxiety. Methods: A survey was conducted with 564 people with a schizophrenia, depression and anxiety who are currently being treated at a psychiatric clinic in Amman, Jordan. Results: The research found that stigma towards schizophrenia, depression and anxiety was based around three factors: preconceived stereotypes, personal responsibility/blame and the perceived inability of a patient to recover. Schizophrenia, in particular, was linked more strongly to negative stereotypes and an inability to recover and less associated to personal responsibility/blame in comparison to depression and anxiety. Discussion: Three identical stigma factors emerged for each diagnosis which reflected themes identified in previous literature. People with schizophrenia are seen as more dangerous and less likely to recover than those suffering from other mental illness. Anxiety was seen most favourably by the self; it was associated with less negative stereotypes and seen as more likely to cure. Interestingly, anxiety and depression were seen almost identically. Conclusion: The self‐perception of mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia, depression and anxiety, have important implications for the planning of anti‐stigma and awareness raising programmes. By gaining a thorough understanding of these perceptions and the rationale behind them, it may be possible to develop effective, tailor‐made interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Stigma affects family members of individuals with mental illness. A survey of 640 family members of individuals with mental illness was conducted. Three factors were found to influence stigma regarding schizophrenia, depression and anxiety: (a) preconceived stereotypes, (b) a sense of personal responsibility or blame for the condition and (c) perceptions of the patient's inability to recover from the condition. A stronger association between negative stereotypes and inability to recover was found with schizophrenia than depression or anxiety. Conversely, depression and anxiety were found to be correlated with personal responsibility or blame for the condition. The public perception of mental health conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety, schizophrenia) has a crucial role in deriving programs for reducing stigma and raising awareness. Personalized and efficacious treatment regimens may be facilitated by understanding these perceptions and the underlying explanations for why they exist. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective The purpose of this study is to describe physical, mental and cognitive disabilities and periodontal status as indicated by periodontal health, edentulism and use of dentures among nursing home residents in Jordan. Methods A sample of 221 subjects with a mean age of 62.4 years (121 males and 100 females) from nursing home residents in Jordan were recruited to participate in this study. Oral health status, mini mental state examination ( MMSE), Geriatric Depression Scale ( GDS), Tinetti Assessment Battery for gait and balance ( TAB) and disability of arm, shoulder and hand test ( DASH) were assessed for all subjects. Results The response rate was about 88%. The multivariate analysis showed that the degree of upper limb disabilities, as measured by DASH, and reporting not brushing of teeth were the main risk indicators for severity of periodontal disease. Residents with dentures were found to have significantly higher cognitive abilities scores ( MMSE), better upper arm abilities ( DASH) and gait and balance score ( TAB) in comparison with edentulous adults without dentures. Edentulous residents were found to suffer more from cognitive impairment ( MMSE) than dentate residents. There was no predilection of upper limb ( DASH) and lower limb ( TAB) disabilities or depressive symptoms ( GDS) for edentulous over dentate subjects. Conclusions Results suggest that nursing home residents with a variety of physical, cognitive and psychological disabilities are at increased risk of deterioration of their oral health. Aim To identify potential risk indicators of dental erosion ( DE) among 12- to 14-year-old Jordanian school children. Design A random cross-sectional sample was selected from Amman, Irbid, and Al-Karak governorates. A weighted multistage random sampling system was used to yield 3812, 12- to 14-year-old school children from 81 schools. The study utilized a self-reported questionnaire of factors reported in the literature and thought to be associated with DE. Full mouth recording using the tooth wear index modified by Millward et al. (1994) was performed by a single calibrated examiner. Results Logistic regression analysis defined the risk indicators that were simultaneously associated with DE with geographical location, medical condition including frequent mouth dryness, and having frequent bouts of vomiting or using a cortisol inhaler, dietary habits including consumption of carbonated beverages, lemon, sour candies, and sports drinks, keeping soft drinks in the mouth for a long time, brushing teeth following soft beverages or drinking lemon juice at bed time. Conclusions Dental erosion is a multifactorial condition in which mouth dryness, vomiting, cortisol inhaler use, keeping soft drinks in the mouth, drinking beverages at bed time, consumption of lemon, sour candies, and having confectionary as snacks are risk indicators, and area of residence are all potential factors.
