An introduction is presented in which the editor discusses various reports within the issue on topics including a thorough description of oceanic fronts in the western North Pacific, East Asia marginal seas and coastal seas around Japan, climatological statistics of oceanic rings detached from KE jet, and trends observed in surface and subsurface temperature around the Antarctic Circumpolar Current and associated frontal zones.
