A continuous increase in follicular lymphoma has been observed in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea over the last few decades. This study aimed to evaluate the difference in incidence trends of follicular lymphoma in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea between 2001 and 2019. The data for the Taiwanese populations was obtained from the Taiwan Cancer Registry Database, and those for the Japanese and Korean population were retrieved from the Japan National Cancer Registry and some additional reports, both of which included population-based cancer registry data, from Japan and Korea. Follicular lymphoma accounted for 4231 cases from 2002–2019 in Taiwan, 3744 cases from 2001–2008 and 49,731 cases from 2014–2019 in Japan; and 1365 cases from 2001–2012 and 1244 cases from 2011–2016 in South Korea. The annual percentage change for each time period was 3.49% (95% confidence interval: 2.75–4.24%) in Taiwan, 12.66% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 9.59–15.81%) and 4.95% (95% CI: 2.14–7.84%) in Japan, and 5.72% (95% CI: 2.79–8.73%) and 7.93% (95% CI: −1.63–18.42%) in South Korea. Our study confirms that the increasing trends of follicular lymphoma incidence in Taiwan and Japan have been remarkable in recent years, especially the rapid increase in Japan between 2014 and 2019; however, there was no significant in-crease from 2011 to 2015 in South Korea. To achieve power distribution quickly and improve the anti‐interference capability of the voltage source converter‐based multiterminal high‐voltage direct current (VSC‐MTDC) system, a coordinated control strategy based on the V‐I curve is proposed in this article. The proposed control strategy includes the conventional droop control, the improved droop control, which considers the voltage dead band and fixed dc voltage control. The conventional droop control is utilized in one of the multiple converter stations, the fixed dc voltage control is adopted in the other one, and the improved droop control is applied to all of the rest converter stations. In this way, the unbalanced power will be distributed rapidly only through the conventional droop control, when the change of dc voltage is within the dead band. Meanwhile, all the droop coefficients of the improved droop control are adjusted automatically following the changes in dc current and dc voltage, and the converter stations regulate the unbalanced power coordinately, when the dc voltage is changed beyond the dead band. A model of a four‐terminal voltage source converter‐based high‐voltage direct current (VSC‐HVDC) transmission system is built in PSCAD/EMTDC, and the simulation results are presented to validate the expected performance of the proposed control strategy. © 2019 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Objectives: Overwork has been recognized as a risk factor for cerebrovascular and cardiovascular disease (CCVD). To our best knowledge, Japan is the first country in the world to implement an independent act (the 2014 Act) for the prevention of overwork-related disease, which was promoted through application of preventive measures, such as reductions in working hours. We assessed changes in working hours and overwork-related CCVD before and after introduction of the 2014 Act., Methods: We calculated the overwork-related CCVD incidence rate and average monthly working hours for 10 industry groups in Japan with data from 2012 to 2018. We applied a causal mediation analysis to estimate the total effect of implementing the 2014 Act on the overwork-related CCVD and the effect mediated by working hours., Results: An average of 271 for every 48 million employees developed overwork-related CCVD per year. After introducing the 2014 Act, the incidence rate ratio of overwork-related CCVD was 0.881-fold lower (95% CI 0.780-0.995) compared with before the policy change. The 2014 Act contributed to a decrease of 26% (78 cases per year; 95% CI 29-173) of the overwork-related CCVD incidence per year. Approximately 41% (32 cases per year) of this effect could be explained by reduced working hours., Conclusions: Our study highlights the impact of the 2014 Act in Japan on the reduction in working hours, which further contributes to the reduction in overwork-related CCVD. Policymakers should consider adopting our innovative approach to assess the mediation effect underlying the implementation of new policies., (© 2020 The Authors.
