In the field of goods production, demand prediction is important. By doing sales predictions, companies can make calculations and forecasts for what raw materials are mostly ordered. J48 and Naïve Bayes algorithm are two popular machine learning technique. By using these two algorithms, this study aims to develop an accurate and more reliable predictive model that help the company to make data driven decision. This study focuses on the application of quantitative methods, specifically the J48 algorithm and Naïve Bayes algorithm. This research conducted 4 times testing on each algorithm. This study produces high accuracy values with the Naïve Bayes and J48 algorithms. Both algorithm results have a fairly high accuracy value of 94% for Naïve Bayes and 98% for J48. The findings of this study implicate that by using J48 and Naïve Bayes algorithm, company can make informed decisions lead to improved operational efficiency, cost-effective, and resource utilization. Background: Demographic changes and a low birth rate have led to a workforce shortage in Japan. To address this issue, the government has promoted engagement of female employment. However, increased female employment can impact women's health. Using Internet of Things (IoT) and apps to manage women's health has gained attention, but few studies have focused on working women., Objective: This study aimed to clarify the current situation of working women and their use of IoT or apps to manage their health., Methods: A large-scale, nationwide internet survey was conducted among 10,000 female participants aged from 20 years to 64 years in Japan. Participants were recruited from a marketing research company's active survey panel of 5.24 million members. The survey included questions about health status, sociodemographic factors, psychological characteristics, and the use of IoT or apps for health management. We compared perceived health status and reasons for current IoT use using t tests and assessed participant characteristics that predicted IoT use using the C5.0 decision tree algorithm. Ethical approval was granted by St. Luke's International University., Results: Among participants, 14.6% (1455/10,000) currently used IoT or apps, 7% (695/10,000) used them previously, and 78.5% (7850/10,000) had never used them. Current users (42.7 years old) were older than past users (39.7 years old). Discrepancies were observed between participants' perceived health problems and the purpose for using IoT or apps, with 21.3% (2130/10,000) of all women reporting they experienced menstrual symptoms or disorders but only 3.5% (347/10,000) used IoT or apps to manage the same symptom. On the other hand, current users were more likely to use IoT or apps to manage nutrition-related problems such as underweight or obesity (405/1455, 27.8%). Device use was highest among current users, with 87.3% (1270/1455) using smartphones, 19.7% (287/1455) using smartwatches, and 13.3% (194/1455) using PCs. The Great Kanto Earthquake that occurred in the southern part of Kanto district, Japan, on September 1, 1923, was reported to have triggered numerous landslides (over 89,080 slope failures over an area of 86.32 km 2 ). This study investigated the relationship between the landslide occurrence caused by this earthquake and geomorphology, geology, soil, seismic ground motion, and coseismic deformation. We found that a higher landslide density was mainly related to a larger absolute curvature and a higher slope angle, as well as to several geological units (Neogene plutonic rock, accretionary prism, and metamorphic rocks). Moreover, we performed decision tree analyses, which showed that slope angle, geology, and coseismic deformation were correlated to landslide density in that order. However, no clear correlation was found between landslide density and seismic ground motion. These results suggest that landslide density was greater in areas of large slope angle or fragile geology in the area with strong shaking enough to trigger landslides.

Population decline and rural–urban population disparities are serious problems in Japan. This study aims to investigate the relationship between people's motivations to migrate to their hometowns ("U-turn migration") and their evaluations of the living environments of both their hometowns and current places of residence. An online questionnaire survey was conducted for people living in multiple places in Japan. By using the data of respondents' U-turn motivations and their evaluations of living environments, we conducted a decision tree analysis to quantitatively describe the multilayered relationship between the environments and people's motivations, and we focused on patterns that can ameliorate the population disparities. These are the major findings: first, living environments in both the hometown and at the current place of residence affected the U-turn motivations. Second, respondents were divided into several groups based on similar U-turn motivation structures, and with different demographic characters among the groups. Additionally, the evaluations of some living environments tend to depend on the city size or geographic locations. Although some groups' U-turn migrations may improve population disparities, the improvement and maintenance of living environments are necessary. The results can help local governments in identifying the living environments that need development, and in estimating the feasibility of U-turn migrations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Most studies determining the predictors of extubation outcomes in patients with mechanical ventilation have not included highrisk populations who avoid extubation and undergo tracheostomy. Objective: To evaluate predictors of extubation intolerance by analyzing patients regardless of whether extubation was attempted or not. Design: Retrospective cohort study. Settings: Mixed intensive care unit (ICU) of Kumamoto University Hospital. Patients and participants: Medical data of 288 consecutive mechanically ventilated adults were collected. Initial outcomes of endotracheal tube treatment were classified as 1) successful extubation, 2) extubation failure, and 3) tracheostomy without attempting extubation. Clinical variables responsible for those outcomes were determined by logistic regression and decision tree analyses. We defined combined outcome of extubation failure and tracheostomy as extubation intolerance in the present study. Results: Of 288 patients, 17 failed extubation and 37 opted for tracheostomy without extubation. Logistic regression analysis revealed that the significant predictors of extubation failure were weak cough strength, poor consciousness, and excessive airway secretion. The propensity score of extubation failure calculated by logistic regression analysis in the tracheostomy group was as high as that of extubation failure group. A decision tree to predict the outcomes was described by branching with consciousness, style of ICU admission, and volume of airway secretion. Conclusions: The principle predictors of extubation intolerance were related to instability of airway patency, and the decision making of tracheostomy was shown to be appropriate. The paper is an exploratory study on the travel intentions of mainland Chinese residents to Japan after Diaoyu Island political crisis. Due to the superior location and excellent service, Japan has become one of the most popular outbound tourism destinations for Mainland Chinese tourists in the past 10 years. However, since the complicated and subtle relations between China and Japan, the tourism industry of Japan is evidently sensitive and vulnerable to various crisis. Under such circumstances, it is necessary to investigate the decision tree model research as well as compare domestic and overseas researches at the very beginning of the study. On the basis of literature review and in-depth interview with tourism operators via a three rounds of pre-test and revision, a self-completion questionnaire was developed and used to measure domestic residents' attitude and travel intentions after the Diaoyu Island political crisis. Data was collected through surveys in cities of different sizes from both developed and undeveloped areas in eastern and western China, such as Shanghai and cities in Fujian, Guizhou, Hubei, Jiangsu and Sichuan provinces. All respondents have abilities to travel to Japan economically and potentials to travel. Altogether 800 questionnaires were distributed and 756 were returned. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the travel intention characteristics of domestic residents to Japan utilizing SPSS21.0. Four vital realities were found from the analysis. First, seeking entertainment opportunities can be the main motivation for Chinese residents travelling to Japan. Second, the family-based tour ought to be considered as the main trip mode. Third, the primary channels for tourism information dissemination include travel agencies and tourism e-commercial websites. Fourth, four to six-day staying in Japan could be proved as a suitable choice for domestic residents who prefer travelling during the national holidays and paid vacations. The CHAID decision tree model is reasonably used to analyze the differences of the intentions to travel among potential tourists in China. Based on the decision tree analysis, most citizens would choose to "cancel the travel plan" (29.0%), followed by "replace tourist destination" and "postpone the travel", yet only 19.6% would "travel as scheduled" in the light of the post impacts of Diaoyu Island political crisis. There could be no doubt that the vast majority of citizens in China lay emphasis on the macro political environment when making a travel decision. Four dominant nodes were generated in tree simulation, namely respective age, number of times to Japan, monthly income and marital status. This study has made a detailed analysis on the causes, and provides each group with tailored marketing measures eventually. Thereby, mixed measures should be implemented, including short-term and long-term plans, to recover the tourism market effectively. From the perspective of crisis decision-making and crisis marketing, this study segments the mainland Chinese citizens in order to disclose the heterogeneity and clustering features of them. The results of the study may set up a systematic foundation for better positioning potential tourists by furnishing an exploratory method for crisis management and crisis marketing. Blood stasis syndrome is one of the pathological concepts of Oriental traditional medicine. In Oriental traditional medicine, blood is thought of as not only blood but also as a living component of the body. In fact, blood stasis syndrome is related to not just circulation disorders but dermatological and gynecological and other diseases. In Japan, the concept of blood stasis syndrome is based on the past literature, for instance, Synopsis of Golden Chamber (Jin Kui Yao Lue), etc. There are many signs of this syndrome, such as a dry mouth, fullness of the abdomen and rough skin. However, the levels of importance of these signs had been unclear. Therefore, in order to determine the levels of seriousness, a scoring system of blood stasis syndrome was made based on multivariate analysis by Dr. Terasawa (Terasawa's Blood Stasis Score). Using the scoring system, we have studied blood stasis syndrome mainly related to blood circulation using modern techniques of analysis. From the results, we found that patients with blood stasis syndrome showed hemorheological abnormalities, and an improvement in these abnormalities was shown after administration of removing-blood stasis formulae. Furthermore, we have studied blood stasis syndrome from the point of view of molecular biology. We searched for the specific protein expression in blood stasis syndrome by proteomic analysis, and found no specific protein expression. However, there may be a possibility of developing a diagnostic algorithm for blood stasis by construction of a decision tree. During the past few years, as one of the molecular biological factors affecting blood stasis syndrome, we have been studying hypoxia inducible factor, which is located in the upstream of many genes. Recently we provided a new interpretation that increased serum ALP in dogs is not adverse if no hepatotoxic finding coexists in the analysis of toxicity studies of over 200 pesticides evaluated in Japan (Yokoyama et al., 2019). We also proposed a decision tree to evaluate the adversity of the increased ALP. The present analysis was conducted to validate the reliability of this interpretation with 129 pesticides more recently evaluated. Before applying, the decision tree was revised to be consistent in all steps. The pesticides showed similar characterization of increased ALP to the previous analysis in that the increase was more frequent than in rats and that liver hypertrophy and hepatotoxicity commonly coexisted with an increase in ALP in dogs. When short- and long-term studies of 58 pesticides inducing ALP activity in dogs were applied to the revised tree, the increased ALP in 8 pesticides was judged not adverse in either study. The revision of the tree did not affect the NOAEL judgment of these pesticides; however, the revised routes contributed to the judgment more robustly. Although animated characters are based on human features, these features are exaggerated. These exaggerations greatly differ by country, gender, and the character's role in the story. This study investigated the characteristics of US and Japanese character designs and the similarities and differences or even the differences in exaggerations between them. In particular, these similarities and differences can be used to formulate a shared set of principles for US and Japanese animated character designs; 90 Japanese and 90 US cartoon characters were analyzed. Lengths for 20 parts of the body were obtained for prototypical real human bodies and animated characters from Japan and the United States. The distributions of lengths were determined, for all characters and for characters as segmented by country, gender, and the character's role in the story. We also compared the body part lengths of animated characters and prototypical real human bodies, noting whether exaggerations were towards augmentation or diminishment. In addition, a decision tree classification method was used to determine the required body length parameters for identifying the classification conditions of animated characters by country, gender, and character's role in the story. The results indicated that both US and Japanese male animated characters tend to feature exaggerations in head and body sizes, with exaggerations for US characters being more obvious. The decision tree only required five length parameters of the head and chest to distinguish between US and Japanese animated characters (accuracy = 94.48% and 67.46% for the training and testing groups, respectively). Through a decision tree method, this study quantitatively revealed the exaggeration patterns in animated characters and their differences by country, gender, and character's role in the story. Paddy fields play very important environmental roles in food security, water resource management, biodiversity conservation, and climate change. Therefore, reliable broad-scale paddy field maps are essential for understanding these issues related to rice and paddy fields. Here, we propose a novel paddy field mapping method that uses Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) time series that are robust for cloud cover, supplemented by Sentinel-2 optical images that are more reliable than SAR data for extracting irrigated paddy fields. Paddy fields were provisionally specified by using the Sentinel-1 SAR data and a conventional decision tree method. Then, an additional mask using water and vegetation indexes based on Sentinel-2 optical images was overlaid to remove non-paddy field areas. We used the proposed method to develop a paddy field map for Japan in 2018 with a 30 m spatial resolution. The producer's accuracy of this map (92.4%) for non-paddy reference agricultural fields was much higher than that of a map developed by the conventional method (57.0%) using only Sentinel-1 data. Our proposed method also reproduced paddy field areas at the prefecture scale better than existing paddy field maps developed by a remote sensing approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Purpose: In severe stroke patients, considerable concern should be given to toileting activity in rehabilitative support. Recently, the application of artificial intelligence, including machine learning (ML), has expanded into the stroke medical field, which could clarify the factors affecting toileting independence in severe stroke patients. This study aimed to identify the factors affecting toileting independence in severe stroke patients using ML., Methods: We used the Japan Rehabilitation Database from 2005 to 2015 to investigate data from 2292 severe stroke patients. We performed the chi-squared automatic interaction detection (CHAID) algorithm with various explanatory variables., Results: The CHAID model identified modified Rankin scale (mRS) score as the first discriminator. Among those with an mRS score ≤4, the next discriminator was age (score ≤72, 73-80, or >80). Among those with an mRS score > 4, the next discriminator was also age (score ≤57, 58-72, 73-80, or >80). Interestingly, some patients achieved toileting independence, although this study focused on severe stroke patients.
