Abstract

The article reports that hemiaminal intermediate has been observed by X-ray crystallography using porous crystalline coordination network. Researchers Makoto Fijita, Masaki Kawano, and colleagues at the University of Tokyo in Japan implied that coordination network could seclude a substrate and allow it to undergo a certain reaction without the need to decompose the surrounding crystal. Joost Reek of the University of Amsterdam states that the research would benefit transition metal catalysis.
