Abstract

The article focuses on Ramicrusta species, crustose calcareous algae which overgrows in the scleractinian corals of Lac Bay, Bonaire in Dutch Caribbean. It states that Ramicrusta grows in 14 species of scleractinian corals including Acropora, Agaricia, and Diploria which extend from its base causing the death of grown tissues. Ramicrusta is also reported seen in Jamaica but limited information is known about its existence. Also discussed is the condition of Ramicrusta in the Lac Bay reef area.
