The article discusses the social context of dance in Italian courts during the Fifteenth Century. It states that the several documents of the period describe the magnificent performance of dance in Italian state marriages and festivals, but do not inform about the cost spent on dances. It further states that the social status of dancing-masters including Domenico da Piacenza and Guglielmo Ebreo was dubious, and often the courts did not have permanent dance masters.
