Abstract

The article presents an anthropological study to ancient cemeteries in Rome, Italy as of January 2012. Among the studied necropolis are the Collatina, Casal Bertone, and Padre Semeria, which were established in the 1st-3rd century anno domini (AD). It claims that the Collatina and Padre Semeria necropolis seem to be related to an urban environment.

Abstract

The article presents the study which examined the mausoleums of the necropolis Collatina and Casal Bertone in Rome, Italy to analyze the biological affinity of individuals buried in the same funeral building. In the study, the epigenetic identification technique was used to examine the non-metric traits of the human skull. Also cited are the Correspondence Analysis (CA) and Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) used in the study and the calculation of the Mean Measure Divergence (MMD) index.
