A section from chapter 3 of the book "Columbia History of Western Philosophy," edited by Richard H. Popkin is presented. This section examines the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas. He was born at Rocca Secca Castle between Naples and Rome, Italy, studied liberal arts at the University of Naples and became a Dominican friar in 1244. The theory of knowledge conceptualized by Aquinas, the arguments he had taken in order to prove the existence of God and his doctrine of seminal principles are explored.
