As the widespread usage of autonomous vehicles is closer to becoming a reality, substantial consideration should be paid to the extent to which individuals choose vehicular mobility tools. The purpose of this study is to examine vehicle ownership models to better understand the adoption of vehicles by considering some factors such as liability issues, cost, safety, and environmental characteristics. 323 respondents were recruited from Istanbul, Turkey to complete the stated choice experiment through a web-based survey. Multinomial logit and Heteroskedastic mixed logit models were estimated to unravel users' preferences concerning the selection of autonomous vehicles with distinction among private, shared, and ride-hailing vehicles. Results indicate that the adoption of those vehicles varied concerning the aforementioned characteristics, and these findings could help decision-makers to develop a vehicular mobility system for future transportation dynamics. Traffic has been increasing with the increase in population in developed and developing countries. Furthermore, parking problem has become a current issue because of unplanned and rapid urbanization and insufficiency of existing substructure. Vehicles are parked in on-street parking spaces without any control. This leads to narrowing of the streets, and as a result of this, slowing down of traffic flow and increasing of traffic intensity. Therefore, in metropolises such as Istanbul, the effects of insufficient parking on traffic must be decreased by developing parking strategies and applying them. In this study, Oguzhan Street in Fatih District which has high traffic intensity was chosen as a research area. In this street, the effect of uncontrolled and paid on-street parking application on vehicle speeds and emissions is investigated. With paid parking application, the traffic flow rate in the north direction has increased by 9.86% and in the south direction by 6.27%. A 4.5% reduction in CO, CO2 and HC emissions released into the atmosphere has been observed depending on the model years of the vehicles. In addition, it has been determined that passenger cars, SUV and van type vehicles reduced the greenhouse effect by approximately 6.2-6.35%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Shipment size and freight transport mode choice have been modeled previously in many studies. There are several studies on the road transport level of this subject as well. This study investigates shipment size and road freight vehicle choice from a geographical point of view. An industrial region in a province may be neighboring another province, a large metropolitan area. Then, freight vehicle choice patterns in that industrial region may differ from the rest of the province it is part of. In this research, data were obtained from Kocaeli province in Türkiye. Modeling techniques include Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) for shipment size choice and Discrete Choice approaches for vehicle choice. This study investigates the effects of neighboring using dummy variable and market segmentation approaches. Both approaches show that one region of Kocaeli, neighboring Istanbul, has different vehicle choice mechanisms from the rest of Kocaeli. Therefore, in shipment size and freight vehicle choice modeling or freight transportation master plans for a region, neighboring effects of other large metropolitan areas should be considered. If necessary, separate models may be required for such regions. Effects of several variables on shipment size and vehicle choice patterns are also given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
