The article examines the features of social security for military personnel in the State of Israel. In particular, it highlights the relevance of this issue for scientific research and practical application in the current historical realities of Ukraine. The aim of the article is to analyze the characteristics of social security for military personnel in the State of Israel. The subject of the study is the features of the social security system for Israeli military personnel, including its principles, structure, main benefits and services, as well as sources of funding. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive analysis of the features of social security for Israeli military personnel, taking into account the latest changes in this field. Over the years of its development, the social security system for Israeli military personnel has become one of the most advanced in the world, making it a special object for scientific research, especially in the context of the full-scale war unfolding in Ukraine. The social security of Israeli military personnel is comprehensive and covers various areas. The article examines the principles of the social security system for Israeli military personnel, such as compulsory service, universality, targeted assistance, and funding. Significant attention is paid to analyzing the structure of this system, highlighting its main components and directions, which include state civil insurance, military social insurance, and social services. The article discusses the features of Israeli military personnel receiving benefits and free services related to medical care, housing, food, education, etc. It also outlines the directions and sources of funding for this budgetary sector in Israel. The key features of the Israeli social security system for military personnel are compared with the Ukrainian system. Special attention is given to the key features of veteran social protection, specifically for military personnel with the status of "discharged soldier," "active reservist," "discharged soldier with a disability," and "wounded soldier." The article also addresses the issue of providing appropriate social protection for the families of deceased military personnel. To resist the Israeli military occupation of the West Bank, Palestinian prisoners are smuggling sperm samples out of Israeli prisons to enable their wives to undergo fertility treatment. Bodies and bodily matter figure as central actors in this practice of resistance. In this article, I draw from fieldwork I conducted with Palestinian women and medical staff in the occupied West Bank to examine the tension between carcerality and matter(ing). I argue that bodies and bodily matter are constitutive of the relationship between oppression and resistance. I analyze how Israeli military authorities assign evidentiary status to Palestinian bodies and illustrate how Palestinian families challenge the Israeli carceral system through new modes of embodied resistance. This article demonstrates how intersecting forms of oppression shape and are being shaped by bodies and their materiality. It also suggests that theorizing the materiality of power from Palestine offers new ways of understanding the political work that bodies do. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Thetransitionfrom adolescence toadulthoodincludes,for mostyoungadults, physical separation from their parents in order to live away from home (Moore, 1987). This physical separation was found to be associated with positive changes in the parent-adolescent relationship (Sullivan & Sullivan, 1980). The present study extended previous findings by examining the effects ofphysical separation from one's parents in theIsraeliculture,where thetime of home-leaving is based on the youngster's age (18) and is not chosen by the parents or the adolescent, and where the transition is into mandatory military service. A group of 143 young men participated in the study and filled out questionnaires regarding their relationships with their parents and their adjustmentand copingattwopoints intime:threemonthsbeforeconscription and three months later, following their basic training period in the army. Relationships with mothers and fathers were reported to improve (more warmth, less confrontation, and more autonomy) between the two times of measurement. Baseline level (Time l) relationships with parents contributed significantly to reported coping and adjustment. In addition, changes in relationships with parents, in particular a decrease in confrontation with parents and an increase in autonomy granted by parents, all significantly contributed to an increase in feelings of control and adjustment. Results are discussed in the light of the importance of relationships with primary caregivers (i.e. parents) and developmental changes in these relationships in promoting adjustment in early adulthood during home leaving transition.
