Abstract

The article presents a study which investigated the pinecone opening tradition among black rats in Cyprus and in Israel. It outlines the localities in Cypurs where pinecones opened by black rats were found. It discusses the similarities between the technique used by black rats in Cyprus and black rats in Israel in harvesting pine seeds. It relates the possibility of the independent evolution of the tradition of pine cone opening among black rats in Cyprus.
