The article informs that the current financial crisis has compelled European countries to encounter detailed international involvement in their health systems. It has been informed that international bailouts for Ireland, Greece and Portugal forced them to agree detailed economic adjustment programmes with the European Commission (EU), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Central Bank that includes detailed prescriptions for change in the health systems. It also discusses commitments made by each country to the EU, IMF and the European Central Bank regarding their health policies.
