Abstract

The article discusses research on postdeployment outcomes in National Guard soldiers deployed to Iraq as to the longitudinal effects on them of mild traumatic brain injury and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) comorbidity. Subjects of the longitudinal study include 953 U.S. National Guard soldiers who were surveyed while they were in Iraq, one month before they return home (time 1) and one year after they have returned home (time 2). Conclusions indicated the strong association of PTSD with postconcussive symptoms.
