The article reports that the 3d Brigade, 2d Infantry Division, the U.S. Army's first Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), deployed from its home station in November 2003 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. After training at Camp Udairi, Kuwait, the brigade moved into Iraq and conducted combat operations in the Salah al-Din province, located in the Sunni Triangle, and later moved north to the Ninevah province. With the organic and attached engineer units and the assured mobility framework, the brigade has been able to effectively deal with the improvised explosive devices threat to its mobility in the city of Mosul.
