This study aims to investigate the forms of verbal abuse by teachers toward students during the teaching and learning process, the prototype of verbal abuse recognized by teachers, and the specific features of verbal abuse of students by teachers. This study used mixed methods that combine qualitative and quantitative methods. The quantitative method focused on investigating the frequency of verbal abuse by teachers using the Korean Verbal Abuse Questionnaire. Meanwhile, the qualitative method examined the prototype of verbal abuse recognized by teachers and the features of verbal abuse that teachers use toward students. This study recruited 204 students from the fourth to the sixth grades of elementary school and 30 teacher representatives from five elementary schools in Indonesia. The data were collected through online surveys and interviews. The data on the frequency of verbal abuse by teachers during the teaching and learning process were analyzed using descriptive statistics. In contrast, the data from the open-ended questionnaire for teachers and the interviews with students and teachers were analyzed using content analysis. This study found that there are four types of verbal abuse by teachers. These are raising their voices, telling students that they are acting stupid or like brats, scolding, and calling names that make students feel inadequate. Teachers tend to define abuse as something that is physically aggressive, suggesting that teachers often categorize abuse within the realm of physical violence. There are four types of verbal abuse features found in teachers' utterances; these are labeling students' cognitive ability, labeling students' behaviors, shaming students' physiques, and raising their voices. Verbal abuse toward individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ are often rooted in rigid stereotypes and societal norms surrounding gender and identity. This type of abuse can range from derogatory comments and slurs to threats and harassment and can significantly impact the mental health and well-being of those who experience it. This study aimed to focus on verbal rejection, which is indirectly and unwittingly, carried out in the immediate environment of LGBTQ+ people. The main method of research conducted was primary data obtained directly from LGBTQ+ people, questionnaires were circulated randomly through social media, and then the data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. According to the study’s findings, verbal violence against LGBTQ+ individuals frequently occurs in Indonesia, since it is still considered to be a taboo or odd. In order to establish a more inclusive and accepting society for everyone, regardless of a person’s gender identity or sexual orientation, it is imperative to confront and destroy these harmful presumptions. Background: Verbal abuse experienced by nurses has a significant impact on work so that it can reduce work morale, productivity and work quality. There are several factors that influence verbal abuse in nurses including age, gender, previous education, period of employment, employment status, work unit, work shift, marital status, and organizational climate. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence verbal abuse among nurses at government-owned general hospital in a province in Indonesia Methods: This study applied a quantitative design with cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 391, and obtained with a simple random sampling technique Results: The results of this study found that the factors that influence verbal abuse among nurses at the hospital are age, employment status, work shifts, and organizational climate. Violence in the workplace is a problem that acknowledges no national borders and has a big impact on nurse wellbeing and working performance globally. This descriptive cross-sectional study examined violence and its associated factors experienced by nurses in Indonesia. Data were obtained from 120 registered nurses working at a mental health hospital in West Java. Workplace violence was assessed using the 2003 World Health Organization Survey Questionnaire on Workplace Violence in the Health Sector. Logistic regression was used to determine factors associated with workplace violence. A total of 46.7% of nurses reported being verbally abuse, 29.2% having been physically attacked, and 24.2% experiencing both verbal abuse and physical attack. Among those experiencing both verbal abuse and physical attack, 27.6% of this occurred in acute care settings, and 32.1% happened during unit round and routine treatment. Nurses who had graduated with a diploma III were more likely to experience a physical attack and both physical and verbal abuse than those with a bachelor degree. Those who worked in the acute care unit tended to experience more physical violence and verbal abuse than in other units. The findings demonstrated a high incidence of occupational violence against mental health nurses, including high-intensity verbal abuse, physical aggression, and combination. Leaders and managers within the Indonesian mental health system, including physicians and nurses, as well as government officials need to develop and implement policies to combat this. Adequate budgets are needed to provide ongoing and routine prevention and management of violence and aggression training for all mental health workers in the clinics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
