The interesting teaching and learning of Malay languages is a challenging effort and need a relevant plan to the students' needs especially for the foreign students who already have the basic Indonesian Malay language variation that they have learned for four semesters in their own country, Germany. Therefore, the variety of teaching and learning strategies should be considered by the teachers to make teaching and learning become interesting, effective and not boring. Basic effectiveness of a language program was the factors of socio-culture, the style of teaching and learning, the students, and the characteristics of the program. This paper however focused on the socio-cultural factors (learning of cultures) and the activities program that enable to generate excitement and effectiveness in the teaching and learning of Malay language as a foreign language. In the teaching and learning process found that the more we gave the activities to the students, the more the students acquired the meaning of the lessons. In this study, the selected respondents were the two groups of students from TWG, Konstanz, Germany who have followed the Malay Language and Culture Program in the Languages, Literacies and Translation Center, University of Sains Malaysia, Penang, in 2011. The first group was started in March to June, and the second group in September to November. The research was based on formal and informal observations and interviews. This paper also discussed about the outdoor activities program used as curriculum in the teaching and learning process that gives an interesting environment to foreign students. This research is motivated by indigenous peoples' belief in customary rules which encourages studies on their legitimacy in the Indonesian legal system. The author collected study samples from the Bangkalan Dayak tribe in South Kalimantan Province as an example of an Indonesian customary village. This study focuses on two formulations of problems, namely the role of the customary criminal justice system in the national criminal justice system and the impact of Dayak Bangkalan customary criminal justice law enforcement when related to the national criminal justice system. This research is a sociological legal research, the legal data collection technique is carried out through literature review, including primary legal data, secondary legal data, and tertiary legal data related to this research. The result of the study is that the state recognizes the existence of customary law communities in accordance with Article 18B of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. Even though there is no legal framework that can regulate this at the national level, the mandate of regional legislative policy still recognizes the existence of customary courts. This is evidenced by the existence of regional regulations that recognize and protect indigenous peoples. In addition, the results of the study conveyed that the legal implications arising from customary court decisions turned out to be able to be used as legal data in national criminal courts. The potency and challenges of sorghum development in tidal swamplands in Indonesia have yet to be well studied. Thus, our study is the first to evaluate the land suitability, economic performance, and strategies for developing sorghum in the tidal swamplands in Central Kalimantan. We use the land suitability evaluation method, a gross margin and profit analysis, a break-even analysis, and a competitive analysis as the methods for assessing the potency and utilization of sorghum in this study. As a tool for decision-making, SWOT was also used, followed by a quantitative strategic planning matrix (QSPM) analysis. The results show that 578,511 ha of arable land is suitable for sorghum development. Economically, sorghum farming can generate IDR 12,894,000 per ha with a revenue-cost ratio of 1.72; the break-even price would be IDR 2447 per kg, around 42% lower than the current market price. Sorghum is also more competitive than cassava (Q = 0.76), sweet potato (Q = 0.58), and soybeans (Q = 0.61) and less competitive than maize (Q = 1.33). Based on the QSPM analysis, five alternative strategies were obtained for developing sorghum in tidal swamplands: (1) optimization of productivity; (2) improvement in the quality of human resources for farmers; (3) facilitation of partnership cooperation; (4) application of site-specific technology; and (5) optimization of waste utilization. Introduction: Work-musculoskeletal disease is still an occupational health problem worldwide that needs to be investigated in every different type of work. Objectives: Identify De Quervain’s disease (DQD) prevalence on motorcycle repair mechanics and it’s risk factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study on 60 motorcycle repair mechanic in Samarinda city of Indonesia. To determine DQD, a Finkelsteins test was performed. Age, education background, working period, working time per day, and frequency of repetitive motion of the mechanic were collected by direct interview. The number of samples using the Lemeshow formula. Phi coefficient test is applied to identify the correlation between DQS prevalence and other parameters. Results: the DQD prevalence of 63.3% was found, occurred in right and left hands, 36 and 24%, respectively. It correlates significantly with age (p=0.047, r=0.346), working period (p=0.000, r=0.861), education background (p=0.045, r=0.367), working time per day (p=0.055, r=0.616), and frequency of repetitive motion (p=0.004, r=0.374). Conclusions:The prevalence of DQD in motorcycle repair mechanics is quite high and requires attention, prevention and control from stakeholders so that the prevalence does not increase. Despite having carried out maternity care in healthcare facilities, neonatal deaths still occur. A study was conducted to analyze the effect of antenatal care (ANC) on neonatal death incidence in healthcare facilities in Indonesia. The study used the 2017 IDHS data. With stratification and multistage random sampling, 13.104 women aged 15-49 years with live births in the last 5 years, who performed maternity care in the healthcare facility, were sampled. Apart from ANC, other independent variables analyzed were a type of place, age, education, wealth, employment, parity, and complication during pregnancy. The final stage employed a binary logistic regression test. The analysis found that women who made complete ANC visits during pregnancy (≥4 times) were 0.486 times more likely than women who did not complete ANC visits (<4 times) (OR 0.486; 95% CI 0.266-0.887). The results of this analysis inform that carrying out a complete ANC visit is a protective factor for women who perform maternity care in healthcare facilities in Indonesia from neonatal death incidence. Apart from ANC, 2 variables were also found to have a significant effect on neonatal death incidence in healthcare facilities in Indonesia. These two variables are the age group and complications during pregnancy. Meanwhile, education level, wealth status, employment status, and parity proved insignificant. It was concluded that ANC is a determinant of neonatal death incidence in the healthcare facility in Indonesia. Theory and research have shown that parents have significant influence on their children's social outcome. The present study was therefore conducted to determine the relationship between parenting style and social responsibility of adolescents residing in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Atotal of 331 (male =119, female 212) students from four high schools in Banda Aceh were selected using Multistage Cluster sampling. The Indonesian version of Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) and Social and Personal Responsibility Scale (SPRS) were used to measure parenting style and social responsibility, respectively. Findings showed that authoritarian and permissive parenting styles as significantly associated with improved adolescents' social responsibility. Surprisingly, the study revealed no significant correlation between authoritative parenting style and adolescents' social responsibility. The male adolescents in the study appeared to be more socially responsible than their female counterparts. Inconsistent with the other studies, the current study noted that non-authoritative parenting is positively related to adolescents' social responsibility. Additionally, there may be variation in social responsibility by gender. The implication is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
