The main reason for the research significance is misconceptions arising in the field when implementing Sekolah Penggerak Program, which started in 2021. Thus, the objectives of this study are to describe programs for enhancing exceptional human resources, and to explore the Kurikulum Operasional Satuan Pendidikan (Education Unit Operational Curriculum), and the Merdeka Curriculum learning. Four elementary schools in Indonesia's urban and rural areas served as the research unit for analysis, which used a qualitative comparative case study design. The results demonstrate that the programs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for improving human resources, which includes training and mentoring, have a favourable effect on both rural and urban primary schools. However, only one out of four schools examined the context of the educational unit while creating education unit operational curriculum documents, and every school simply used education unit operational curriculum as a prerequisite for administrative fulfilment. Based on the available components, all teachers developed teaching modules for the Merdeka Curriculum. It was found, nevertheless, that the students were not genuinely exposed to the content of these modules.

The development of postmodern-era technology in the world of education is increasingly sophisticated, thus impacting the character of students and their social environment. Technological progress negatively affects the lives of today's generation. When misuse of technology is widespread, it is imperative to strengthen cultural and religious filtration. So that the influence of globalization on technological development can be minimized. So as not to damage the cultural values and morality of students as the next generation of the nation. This study aims to explain the importance of transforming the values of Bima's local wisdom "Nggusu Waru" through the media of social studies e-books. The results and conclusions of this study are efforts to develop students' social character that require teacher collaboration, supervision, and optimal parental attention so that their interest in learning is higher and minimizes deviant behavior. This research method uses research and development design. At the stage of preliminary studies with models developed by Borg and Gall. Through several stages of research, information gathering, development of initial forms of products, and initial field testing. In this step, data is collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The data is analyzed to find out some of its weaknesses and shortcomings.

The "Sekolah Penggerak" program is one of the Indonesian Government's efforts to realize the vision of Indonesian education, namely an advanced Indonesia that is sovereign, independent, and possesses the Pancasila personality. As the leading actors in education, teachers play an important role in implementing educational programs. This study was carried out to examine the experiences of teachers involved in the "Sekolah Penggerak" program regarding the impact of implementing the program. This study is qualitative with an exploratory case study design and a retrospective approach. The participants in this study were 15 mover teachers willing to participate, selected using a purposive sampling technique. To collect data, an open-ended questionnaire, and semi-structured interviews were used. The results of the study reveal that, in general, the "Sekolah Penggerak" program has a positive impact on teachers, namely helping them change mindsets to be more innovative in utilizing student-focused learning, and on students, namely increasing their motivation and critical skills. The experiences after participating in the "Sekolah Penggerak" program also direct teachers to be involved in collaborative reflective practice of program implementation to produce teachers who are more professional so that this program runs more effectively in the future.

This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the implementation of Pancasila learning with the goal of improving critical thinking skills through the application of the six thinking hats model. The research adopts a descriptive approach utilizing qualitative methods. The study was conducted at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The participants were selected using purposive techniques based on specific criteria and considerations to ensure the collection of targeted information. Specifically, the research focused on students enrolled in the Manufacturing Engineering Class D. Data collection for this study involved the use of observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. To ensure data validity, triangulation techniques were employed by the researchers. Data analysis followed an interactive model based on the framework developed by Miles and Huberman, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The six thinking hats learning model significantly improved students' critical thinking skills and character values. This approach enables students to approach problems from multiple perspectives, becoming more responsive to social issues and navigating real-world challenges. These fosters heightened awareness of societal matters, enabling students to contribute meaningfully to social progress.

This research aims to analyze "Gusjigang" ("bagus" (superior), "ngaji" (religious science), and "dagang" (trade)) as a model of strengthening character education based on local wisdom in the digital era. This research methodology uses a systematic literature review with in-depth analysis. The results of this study show that the dimensions of "Gusjigang" can foster moral goodness, intellectual development, and entrepreneurial spirit. In this case, the younger generation can build a strong ethical foundation, utilize technology wisely, and contribute to the development of themselves and society. By combining "Gusjigang" values and digital technology, it can create a model of character education that is relevant, strengthens cultural identity, and can adapt to changing times without losing its roots and fundamental values.

Environmental problems caused by waste and exploitation of natural resources can be exacerbated by a lack of awareness and concern for the environment. One of the contributing factors is the lack of utilization of learning resources and environmental-based media in education. This study aims to develop and validate a teaching module based on the PjBL (Project-based Learning) model to increase students' environmental awareness, especially on the topic of environmental change. By using the 4D Model, this study uses quantitative descriptive analysis involving validation by two experts. The validation values for learning plan, learning media, and students' worksheet were 3.48, 3.52, and 3.45, respectively. The results of the recapitulation of validity data show a total score of 3.48 with a valid category. It was concluded that teaching modules based on project to improve environmental character are worthy of being applied in Biology learning at school.

This study raises the unity of the topics of folklore, literature teaching materials, and character education. It aims to explore character education values in endangered Central Malay folklores as a means of internalizing literature teaching. This qualitative study used five informants who not only knew the folklores but also knew the local culture of the Central Malay community in depth. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and note-taking. The data were analyzed using a thematic approach. The research findings show that Central Malay folklore has aesthetic, humanist, ethical, and religious values that can be internalized in literature learning as a form of effort to save Central Malay folklore from extinction through education. This research is not new. However, there is little information about Central Malay folklore in Indonesia. The findings provide benefits and recommendations to researchers, educators, teachers, and policymakers to collaborate and conduct further studies to save Central Malay folklore from extinction and survive in society. In addition, the importance of this research is to increase understanding and foster students' appreciation of local literature while being able to take and practice the character values contained in Central Malay folklore. This research aims to analyze global diversity values present in Indonesian language textbooks for fourth-grade elementary school students. The study employs a qualitative approach with content analysis as the method. The research objects consist of four textbooks published by Erlangga, Yudistira, Bumi Aksara, and Puskurbuk Kemdikbudristek. The analysis process involves selecting relevant material samples, developing analytical categories, coding the content, and interpreting emerging patterns. The research findings indicate that the Indonesian language textbooks for fourth-grade elementary school students provide activities and experiences that enrich their understanding of cultural diversity in Indonesia. Students are taught to develop attitudes of tolerance and intercultural communication, as well as reflection and responsibility towards diversity. These books contribute to shaping students who are inclusive, tolerant, and capable of communicating in a multicultural environment, embodying the values of global diversity character. The importance of fostering global diversity character in primary school students is highlighted through education, particularly using meticulously designed Indonesian language textbooks. These textbooks introduce students to various aspects of Indonesian and other cultures, promoting understanding, appreciation, and tolerance for cultural diversity. Emphasizing character development, the textbooks instruct students in intercultural communication and encourage interactions with culturally diverse peers, fostering effective communication skills for multicultural environments. Furthermore, students are prompted to reflect on their own multicultural experiences, shaping their global perspectives. In summary, Indonesian language textbooks serve as a vital resource in shaping students into inclusive, tolerant individuals proficient in effective communication within multicultural contexts.

This research aims to prove and find out the influence of local wisdom-based learning media on the character of students in Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative method with a meta-analysis approach. The research data were analyzed using the 0.8.5 version of JASP software. The eligibility criteria used include: (a) The publications must be searchable in search databases such as Google Scholar, ERIC, DOAJ, Research Gate, and or ScienceDirect; (b) The publications are reputable indexed; (c) The publications must relate to learning media based on local wisdom and student character; (d) The publications must be in the range of 2015 to 2023; (e) The articles are worth (r), (t), or (F); (6) N = 30. The results of the analysis of 30 studies showed that there was a significant effect of learning media on the character of students in Indonesia (z = 9.700; p < 0.001; 95% CI [0.987; 1.487]). This effect is categorized as very strong (rRE = 1.237). This meta-analysis study is the result of accurate, valid, and representative research reviewed because publication bias was not detected. Thus, it can be concluded that learning media based on local wisdom has a big influence on student character.

Intolerance attitudes are still common in school environments, and governments must dedicate efforts to building religious moderation attitudes in society. It is explained in this study that intolerance cases have not been effectively reduced by religious moderation in religious and moral education learning in public schools. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied with data sources through observations, interviews, and textbook documents. The study objectively described religious moderation content in textbooks, the time allocation of Islamic religious education (PAI) learning in schools, and the supporting activities of religious moderation in schools. The content of the textbooks on Islamic religious and moral education has not yet contained comprehensive religious moderation indicators. It can be seen from the religious indicators' classification, such as national commitment, tolerance, antiviolence, and accommodation of local culture, that less time is available for religious and moral education. Therefore, the content of religious moderation needs to be integrated into all subjects. Likewise, extracurricular activities must be activated and filled by strengthening religious moderation, including Islamic spiritual activities. The importance of the understanding of teachers on religious moderation was proven by this finding because teachers are role models for students in religious attitudes. Additionally, evaluation is needed for educational stakeholders, such as educators, curriculum, and time allocation, to reduce intolerance cases. School stakeholders can be role models for implementing religious moderation in and out of schools.

Developing nationalism character among the digital native generation in Indonesia has been one of the national goals, especially to educate the nation's life through formal education. To realise these goals, teachers become the spearhead to grow this character within students. However, most teachers find it difficult to deal with since they have low teacher competencies. This study aims at revealing teachers' challenges and strategies in building the nationalism character among the digital native generation through formal education. This study employed a qualitative approach with the type of library research. The data collection technique was document studies, while the data analysis used content analysis. The study results showed that: (1) Indonesian teachers still have low mastery of the teacher competencies (pedagogic, professional, social, and personal aspects). They also perform monotonous learning methods and rarely use digital-based learning media; and (2) the strategies to build the nationalism character among the digital native generation era are through teacher competencies mastery, effective learning tools, varied learning methods and integration of the digital-based learning media.

Local wisdom-based learning resources are needed to support student character-oriented learning, one of which is a pocketbook, but currently, the number is minimal. This study aims to produce a product in the form of teaching materials in the form of a pocketbook based on local wisdom that has a proper and effective predicate for elementary school students. This research includes research and development research by adopting the ADDIE research method. This research was conducted in an elementary school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The results of the questionnaire of material experts, media experts, teacher responses, student responses, learning implementation observation sheets, pre-test, and post-test were obtained in this study. The data analysis technique was paired sample t-test, percentage, and average. The results of this study are as follows: (1) the material expert stated that the pocketbook based on local genius is feasible to use with very good criteria. Media experts assessed with good criteria; and (2) the effectiveness of the pocketbook is very good. This can be seen from the value of positive student responses. The observation sheet for the implementation of the learning process is very good. Student achievement increased, as indicated by the average score of pre-test and post-test. The pocket book based on local genius was declared effective, as indicated by the results of the t-test calculation. The pocket book based on the developed local wisdom had a positive impact. This can potentially be used for elementary school students as valuable teaching material for strengthening student character.

The moral damage caused by the erosion of positive values and national character is quite concerning. This phenomenon has encouraged government concern through strengthening students' character. Strengthening students' character through formal education has not produced significant results, as evidenced by the many symptoms of moral decay and crime involving students in Indonesia. To overcome this, an alternative strategy is needed to elaborate between character education based on thoughts and hearts, which non-formal educational institutions can carry out. This research explores the "suluk" method as an alternative for forming religious characters for students who practice the Thariqah Al-Mu'min in West Kalimantan. This study uses a case study method and a qualitative approach. The research results found that; "suluk" can shape the religious character of students who practice the Al-Mu'min Order; these characteristics are; peace of mind, discipline, enthusiasm in worship, gratitude, trustworthiness, honesty, understanding the purpose of life, feeling close to Allah, feeling more moral than before, feeling more important in controlling lust, respecting others, increasing love for the hereafter, increasing longing for Allah and His Messenger, and sincere in worship. "Suluk" can give a deep religious impression and feel the presence of God in his life. This study emphasizes the importance of using the method of "suluk" in non-formal Islamic societies and formal Islamic education institutions such as Islamic boarding schools and religious colleges to form pious students. However, "suluk" also has weaknesses; only a thariqah practitioner can practice "suluk." The students must also be physically and mentally prepared because the "suluk" method requires seriousness to form a religious character in the performer.

Local history has its point in providing information to local communities for the exemplary process. However, there are not many studies of local history to be implemented in history learning. Thus, the purpose of this study was to find the values of character education in the material for the struggle of K.H. Ahmad Hanafiah in defending Indonesian independence in the Lampung Residency and its implementation in learning local history. The method used is a qualitative research method with historical studies. This study uses primary and secondary sources and uses interviews as reinforcement. The results of the study are: (1) K.H. Ahmad Hanafiah as a local figure who fought to defend Indonesia's independence in Lampung Residency, (2) The values of character education contained in the material include: religious attitude, hard work, curiosity, love for the homeland, national spirit, and independence, (3) These character values can be implemented in local history learning through the Class XI lesson plans covering the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation in high school. It is hoped that students can imitate the figure of a K.H. Ahmad Hanafiah, especially for those who live in the Lampung area, and apply it in their lives both now and in the future. History learning has a central role in instilling the values of national character because the scope of the material taught contains heroic, exemplary, patriotism, and nationalism values. Islamic education (Madrasah) mostly accepts students with economic backgrounds whose parents are poor. their psychological performance is low as they lack self-confidence, and also lack achievement motivation. In strengthening psychological performance, it can be intervened through students' participation both in student organizations and extracurricular activities in school. This study aimed to determine the development of positive values in students at the educational unit level and the follow-up of its development at the ministerial level. This research used descriptive qualitative approach by observing, interviewing and collecting supporting documents. Research subjects and informants were sampled from the education unit level and the ministry level. Data validity was performed by triangulation sources and methods, while data analysis method employed interactive analysis. The results indicate that the development of positive values in students at the educational unit level includes academic skills development, social-emotional development, leadership development and self-confidence in all areas of extracurricular activities. Follow-up development at the ministerial level is in the form of competitions within the framework of developing these skills. This finding explains the importance of extracurricular activities to improve a positive personality and the character of Islamic secondary school students. With this, every school must try to encourage and design the right steps for students involved in extracurricular activities.

The textbook "Sahabatku Indonesia" published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in 2019 has an important position for foreign students who are studying Indonesian. This book consists of 7 series. The book contains information about practical communication rules and exercises in Indonesian. In the communication training material various discourse units are presented which contain information on Indonesian culture. One aspect of culture that is taught is the moral aspect that accompanies language activities. This study aims to describe the representation and implementation of moral values introduced to foreign students in textbooks. These moral values come from moral values that are unique to the Indonesian nation and also universal morals. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. The data source for this research is the 7 book series "My Indonesian Friends". The data is in the form of written verbal units containing moral values and sometimes illustrations are added to accompany the communication exercises. Data were analyzed using content analysis and supported by Appraisal Theory (AT) to see aspects of moral values. This finding illustrated that on "Sahabatku Indonesia" textbook emphasizes inculcating moral values of learners in maintaining harmony and social interactions harmony in their living environment. The moral values contained in the text are as many as 13 moral themes. The implementation in the book can be found in the form of narrative text and picture illustrations. Understanding those moral values made a meaningful contribution to curriculum developers and textbook writers as a basis for consideration in determining their policies.

Character and cultural education has in important role in growing and developing the noble values of a nation. Character education in school can be means of civilizing and humanizing so that the goals of character education can be achieved. One of the link between culture and character education is ethnomathematics. However, there is still a lack of relevant teaching materials and it makes not optimal. Therefore, the implementation of cultural and educational linkages can be developed in a teaching material. The purpose of this research was to determine students' responses to the ethnomathematics of puppet teaching materials as part of the stages of character education-based development. The type of the research is descriptive quantitative. The population of the research is junior high school students in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The number of samples used were 260 students in which the criteria for 130 students are low learning achievements (Group 1) and the other 130 students are good learning achievements (Group 2). The instruments used in this research were application of ethnomathematical and student response through questionnaires. The results showed that in G1 with the low performance, the material in the application was very easy to learn and very useful. In addition, they are also satisfied with the use of the application. Meanwhile, G2 with good learning achievement feel that the application is very useful, very easy to learn and they are very satisfied with the application. Then based on the results of statistical tests, it was obtained that G1 and G2 showed that differences in learning achievement did not affect student responses to the learning process through Puppet ethnomathematics android application based on character education. All the Puppet characters have religious, disciplined, hard work, passion, and love for the homeland.

This study aims to see the effect of student perceptions on web-based character assessment on the results of student character assessment. The population in this study was a junior high school in Batanghari Regency with a sample of 322 students using the purposive sampling technique. Quantitative methods are used in this study with descriptive and inferential analysis methods to obtain assumption tests (normality, homogeneity, and linearity) and hypothesis testing (ANOVA and Linear Regression). The results of this study indicate that the perception of male and female students on web-based character assessment affects the results of character assessment. A linear regression test results show a significance value of 0.001 for both sexes. This is a supporting indicator in implementing web-based assessments apart from the real-time benefits and swift feedback. Therefore, web-based character assessment is suitable for use in learning, as indicated by good student perceptions of the application of the web-based character assessment.

The aim of this research is to investigate the impact of a self-concept-based Upanisad learning model integrated in mixed learning on the building of character and creative thinking skills. This study adopted a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control design. The population of the study consisted of 90 students. A random sampling technique was used to take the samples which consist of 60 students. Tests and questionnaires were used as data collection methods. The test instruments used were a description test with 10 items and a questionnaire with a total of 30 items. The analysis technique employs MANOVA in SPSS. The results showed that learning with the self-concept based Upanisad learning model simultaneously or partially impacts character and creative thinking skills. The results show that students who are taught using the self-concept based Upanisad learning model gain mean scores in character and creative thinking skills. Moreover, other results show that learning with the self-concept based Upanisad learning model is more influential on students' character than their ability to think creatively. Based on these conclusions, the researcher recommended that a self-concept-based Upanishad learning model be able to be used as an innovative learning model for improving character and creative thinking skills.

The inculcation of moral values in English textbooks, particularly in primary schools, has been a global concern in recent decades due to English's growing importance as a global lingua franca and the impact it carries. Hence, the present study aimed to: (1) elucidate the realisation of moral values discursively represented in three primary school English textbooks entitled English Chest 1, 2 and 3, and (2) determine the extent of the textbooks' contents in teaching the moral values. Fairclough's (1995, 2013) framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) integrated with Kress & Van Leeuwen's (2006) Visual Grammar Theory (VGT) was applied to elucidate the depiction of moral values in the textbooks. Additionally, Isaacs' (2001) framework of Developmental Moral Values and Smetana's (2006) Social Domain Theory were also adopted to look at how the contents of the textbooks teach moral values. The results show that (1) modesty (8,99%), curiosity (8,44%), perseverance (7,08%), and friendship (6,53%) are the most frequently occurring values in the three EFL textbooks. (2) The discursive realisation has revealed that certain fundamental moral values such as audacity, sociability, industriousness, respect for others, and responsibility are taught through the depictions of verbal-visual images in both school and familial contexts. Importantly, the three EFL textbooks have fairly adhered to the Indonesian moral (character) education goals and stipulation. They also provide implications on both primary school students and English teachers' pedagogical, linguistic, and moral development so as to raise EFL textbook designers' awareness to develop more morally-laden content.

This study aims to: (1) Obtain information regarding the gap between traditionally used local history learning resources and students' ability to understand the local character values of South Sulawesi Society, (2) Ascertain the opinions of students, lecturers, and the head of the History Education Study Program at Makassar State University regarding the necessity of character-based local history learning resources, and (3) Identify the local character values of South Sulawesi society intended for integration into the development of character-based local history learning resources. The research was conducted in the History Education Study Program from February to March 2023. The participants included students, lecturers, and the head of the history education study program at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Universitas Negeri Makassar. The researcher employed purposive sampling techniques. Data collection methods included observations, interviews, and questionnaire distribution. Information related to observational outcomes was gathered from documents such as semester program plans, reference books used in the learning process, and the learning process itself. Questionnaire and interview instruments were developed based on predefined criteria. Likert scales were utilized for the questionnaire measurements. Interview data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Data were interpreted and presented descriptively. Quantitative analysis was applied to the questionnaire results using descriptive analysis. Data validity was tested through data triangulation. The research findings suggest that based on the needs analysis, there is a perceived necessity to develop character-based learning resources, particularly integrating character values such as maradeka (democracy), alllempureng (honesty), agettengeng (steadfastness), assitinajang (propriety), and warani (courage) into local history content and learning as part of the pappaseng (message) culture of the Makassar Bugis tribe.

Teachers' beliefs about teaching character values are pivotal in cultivating students' character. This study systematically reviewed teachers' beliefs towards character education in primary school. A systematic review following the PRISMA statement was applied to peer-reviewed papers published between 2011 and 2021. This review paper analyzed three main themes based on three research questions, namely, (1) teachers' beliefs of character education curriculum, (2) beliefs of values, and (3) pedagogical beliefs. Findings revealed that teachers mostly believed in an integrated character education curriculum with role model pedagogy. Moreover, there were seventeen (17) values teachers believed to instil which respect and responsibility were the two most dominant values to foster. This study implies that teachers' beliefs are significant factors in proper character education curriculum implementation. This study also provides significant implications for policymakers and curriculum designers in developing a character education curriculum that meets teachers' beliefs.

Critical thinking ability and character education seem to be interesting educational topics that are being discussed in the digital era of 21st century. It is necessary to optimize the character education in the learning process earlier using various learning media. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence learning process of legend story the theme of "obligation and right me" using the a character-based media of "wayang beber" (the legend of "Wasis Joyokusumo") on the students' critical thinking ability. This study is quasi experimental research using post-test only non-equivalent. The samples or participants are two classes in Pati city, namely SD Ngepungrejo 01 Pati as the control class with 36 students and SD Payang 2 Pati as the experimental class with 38 students. Cluster sampling is a technique used to determine the research subject. The data then collected using several techniques, namely observations, interviews, tests, and document analysis. In analyzing the data, descriptive and inferential statistical analysis methods are implemented. In this case, the content validity and construct validity are utilized to test the internal validity. The external validity is tested using try out test of instruments on the sample of study. The validity and reliability tests are implemented. After that, the questions are eligible to be used to obtain the data. The conclusion of study is that the implementation of "wayang beber" as a character-based learning media influences the students' critical thinking ability because the significance value is less than 0,01.

Character education and student, achievement are two main focuses of education in Indonesia in recent years that must be improved. The educators are given the mandate to innovate the learning strategy following the government policy to overcome these problems. This study aims to strengthen the religious character and improve the learning outcome of students through learning innovation that integrated the religious values into learning material that was carried out by involving the school-community collaboration in biology class. This is quasi-experimental research of pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design that involves 240 participants of four public high schools in Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. The students' religious character and learning outcome were measured using questionnaires and essay tests, respectively. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using the ANCOVA test. The results showed that there was no interaction between the pretest data as a covariate with learning strategies, both on religious character data and student learning outcome. Both religious character and student learning outcomes in the experimental group were significantly higher than in the control group. The results revealed that school-community collaboration in applying inquiry-based learning that integrated religious values can be used as a strategy to strengthen students' religious character as well as improve learning outcomes.

Indonesia is a rich country. One of its wealth includes local wisdoms, spread out in the region. Traditional games are parts of local wisdoms in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to see the relationship and comparison of responses and students' characters with the implementation of the traditional game called "Congklak" in classroom teaching. The research used the mix-method, which aimed to corelate and compare research variables. This study used a sample of 50 students with the total sampling technique. The data collection instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The result of the research is that there is a positive significant correlation between research variables, and there is different students' responses and students' characters, with a value of sig <0.05 and in each dominant variable in the good category.

This study aims to describe character development in elementary schools in Malaysia and Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative method with a literature study design. The data collected in this study is about government policies regarding Character Education contained in the Curriculum Structure and supporting policies in the two countries. Analysis of the data used is content analysis. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively through the process of description, reduction, categorization, and interpretation. The results show that Indonesia and Malaysia have a strong commitment to developing education. Character education is developed in elementary schools or low schools through school textbooks, lesson plans, examples, and the existence of certain subjects, such as civic education and religious subjects. The conclusion obtained about the similarities is that character development is carried out under the auspices of the ministry of education and the method used is through textbooks and learning examples. The difference is, in Indonesia character has been directly included in the lesson plans and developed in all subjects, but there are two special subjects that are intended to shape students' attitudes and character. while in Malaysia character development is implemented in Islamic Education and Moral Education subjects as well as embedded in other subjects like Malay Language, English Language and History Education.

Character education reinforcement in secondary schools is one of the educational programmes aimed at anticipating the tendency of moral perversion as a result of moral decadence. Various forms of moral deviations that occur among high school students result in them being alienated from life because they conflict with cultural norms, school discipline, and life ethics in society. In this article we aim to discuss the relation of character value reinforcement and the principal's transformational leadership strategy to shape students' characters in a descriptive-critical manner. The objective of this study was investigating school strategies for optimising the implementation of character education reinforcement. In this research we used a qualitative method with a case study design. The data validity measurement was based on the levels of credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results emphasise the importance of shaping student character as an anticipatory step to minimise moral distortions among high school students, and the effectiveness of the principal's transformational leadership role in optimising the implementation of education programmes for the strengthening of students' characters in schools.

Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jawa Timur (UPNVJT) is a university with state defense education's characters. In practice, those character did not cover the academic field as a whole. Through the theory of planned behavior (TPB), the research carried out the process of internalizing state defense values in thesis writing as a form of character graduates. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach involving stakeholders at UPNJT, namely LP3M and head of department. Data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) software. The results found that two TPB variables, namely attitudes and subjective norms in the organization, had an influence on the intention in implementing state defense values. The intention in implementing state defense values will influence perceived self-efficacy of state defense values. Meanwhile, the subjective norms of the perpetrators and the perception of behavioral control in accordance with the state defense values have no influence on the intention in implementing the state defense values.

Character education is an educational concept to form and foster a Muslim personality as a whole ("syumuliyah"). This literature study aimed to determine the implementation of character education and supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of character education in formal schools in Indonesia. Data analysis techniques by means of data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on research findings, the trend of implementing character education in Indonesian formal schools has the same spirit in the content of character education. In formal schools with the status of public schools, the implementation of character education follows government regulations as stated in the Strengthening of Character Education (SCE), which is an implication of Islamic teachings. As for formal schools with private status on an Islamic basis, character education tends to be oriented towards cultivating "akhlakul karimah" (moral education) combined with government regulations. The implications of this research lead to the cultivation of character values that are embedded in social attitudes and spiritual attitudes as provisions for students' daily lives. The supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of character education are also discussed.

The study discussed the urgency of character education in East Lombok elementary schools based on Sasak ethnic local wisdom. This study used descriptive qualitative research methods to describe the phenomena of educational activities, learning, and curriculum implementation related to character education based on local wisdom of the Sasak ethnic group in East Lombok elementary schools. Data were collected by using interview techniques, group observation, and documentation. Data analysis was organized into some categories, describing it into units, synthesizing, arranging into patterns, interpreting, and making conclusions. The main problem faced in the implementation of character education in East Lombok elementary school is the absence of a character education model that is appropriate or methodologically adequate for learning process, it is individually developed continuously. The richness and diversity of Sasak culture with the values of local wisdom has potential to be integrated holistically into the curriculum both in co-curricular, intra-curricular and extra-curricular aspects, and even has the leverage to become the basis for character education. So that character education in East Lombok elementary schools based on Sasak ethnic local wisdom is very urgent to be implemented.

Character is a crucial aspect of living in society. Character building has been carried out in Indonesia from hundred years ago. The people have improved their way of life by adopting local culture's educational values, such as the Makassar-Buginese "Siri'." However, in this era, there is a deterioration of student character as a result of losing "Siri'" cultural ideals that are rarely found in the field of education. The study aimed to explore the Makassar-Buginese "Siri'" educational values as the foundation of character building. This study was designed as a qualitative study using the ethno-pedagogy approach. The data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results have revealed that the Makassar-Buginese "Siri'" contains the following educational values: "teppe" (faith), "pesse" (compassion), "lempuk" (honesty, straightening deeds, and intentions), "sipakatau" (humanizing human), "sipakalebbi" (glorification of human), "sipakainge" (reminding each other), "sipatokkong" (mutual help and mutual support), "tongeng" (sincerity), "reso" (hard work), and "abbulosibatang" (collaboration). In conclusion, the Makassar-Buginese "Siri'" educational values play a crucial role in character education to be integrated into the learning process to improve student character.

Character education is urgent in passing down the ethical and moral values in the cultured community life. The local cultural values are a source of ethics and moral education for elementary school students. The school keeps taking an essential role in cultivating the local values through online character education during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to analyze the effect of implementing online integrated character education and parental engagement in local cultural values cultivation outcome. The method of this study used an exploratory sequential mixed method design. Collect qualitative data using interview forms, observation, documentation, and quantitative data using questionnaires and portfolios. Qualitative data interpretation used content analysis, and inferential analysis used multiple linear regression. Results revealed that parental engagement, teachers' performance, and online learning obstacles affect local cultural values cultivation outcome in character education partially and simultaneously for sixth-grade students in Padang City. We suggested teachers improve character education management based on local cultural values by building good synergy and collaboration between them and parents to cultivate noble character behavior among students.

The decline in student character is the result of low student learning outcomes. The common student learning outcomes are influenced by several factors, and one of them is teacher-centered, monotonous learning model. For this reason, it is deemed necessary to conduct research that aims to determine the effect of project-based assessment on values clarification technique (VCT) learning on improving students' learning outcomes by controlling the family environment. This study uses a 2x2 factorial experimental design. The sample was selected through multistage random sampling with 120 students. The two-way ANCOVA data analysis technique was used to analyze the data. The findings obtained after controlling the family environment are: 1) civics learning outcomes from the group of students who used value clarification techniques are higher than those using conventional learning models and 2) civics learning outcomes from the group of students who were given project-based assessments are higher than the group who are given conventional assessments. Thus, it can be recommended that civics education teachers used appropriate VCT and project-based assessments to improve learning outcomes.

Character education is considered important as it will cause moral degradation when it is not appropriately taught to the students in school. This study aims to investigate the character education program in Indonesia, particularly at the secondary school level. This study utilized a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. To obtain the data, 20 people participated in this study, including teachers, students, vice school principals, and the school principals from Labschool Jakarta. To get valuable data, an in-depth interview, and focus group discussion (FGD), were used. The data was analyzed using Cresswell method, which consists of transcribing, coding, triangulation, and data display. The study results show that, firstly, the schools have a wide variety of programs that can help to shape students' characters. For example, there was a trip observation for the newly enrolled students in the school. This character education program helps students understand environmental care values from people living in the countryside, so that they can learn local values that can focus on assisting students character foundation. Secondly, Labschool Jakarta also provide some international events that can help students to have a deep understanding of their worldwide, particularly about how the country manages their cleanliness. Finally, the characteristic that is applied in Labschool is focused on the environmental care value. This research implies other teachers and schools that can learn how to teach character education to students. This research recommends all teachers and educators educate character for their students in primary school.

This study addresses teachers' and students' needs for digital picture storybooks based on "Punokawan" puppet characters in elementary schools in Sukoharjo Regency. The Wayang "Punokawan" storybook media was developed based on a needs analysis in Sukoharjo Regency elementary schools implementing the 2013 Curriculum. This qualitative study indicated Sukoharjo elementary schools' needs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, learning occurred online via Google Meet and with strict health protocols offline. Field study data were obtained through interviews and observations at several elementary schools in Sukoharjo Regency. Fourth graders and their teachers were studied. Technical and data triangulation were used to validate data, and data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing were used to analyze it. The results showed that the initial condition of storybooks at elementary schools in Sukoharjo Regency was good, but it was inadequate to satisfy all parties, including students and class teachers teaching Indonesian language subjects. The textbooks also lacked local material. Teachers and students need digital picture books to improve their writing skills because they will enrich students' knowledge and boost their writing skills.

Students of fine-art education may have developed in creative circumstances however, it is important to grow character enculturation. The study is aimed at designing character education for students of the fine-art education department. The study uses the descriptive research approach. Research data are obtained from interviews with lecturers and students of the practicum classes to get information on character education models. To identify the character types that are needed, questionnaires are dispersed to students. Data collection is also conducted by observation to find the design of character education for students during the practicum learning process. The objects of the study are character values for practicum learning for students of the fine-art department. Research findings show nine-character values that can be identified; namely honesty, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, competitiveness, communicativeness, environmental concern, and responsibility. The character education process includes all activities in the practicum class from preparation (for practicum devices), making the art work, art work appreciation, wearing practicum attires, communication ethics, and use of learning facilities by lecturers and students.

Character education gets a lot of attention from stakeholders and educators to be developed; hence, many models have been created to develop the affective domain. This study aimed to analyze the relationship and contribution of critical thinking skills and social skills with students' character through the application of discovery models. The population of this study were high school students in Situbondo. The research sample was chosen from SMA Negeri 1 Besuki with the purposive sampling method. The research instrument to measure critical thinking skills was an essay test developed from Facione's critical thinking skills rubric. Social skills were measured using instruments adopted from Social Skills inventory. To examine students' character, observation sheets were developed from six pillars of character element of the Josephson Institute. The validity and reliability of the instruments were performed before using them. The results of the validity calculation with product-moment correlation analysis and the reliability calculation with Cronbach's alpha analysis showed that the instrument was valid and reliable so that it could be used in this study. Data were analyzed using multiple regression. The results showed critical thinking skills and social thinking skills together had a contribution to the development of students' character in the application of discovery learning models. This research can be a reference for readers about the contribution of students' critical thinking skills and social skills to developing students' character. Further research is needed to find out other impacts that affect students' character.

This study aims to provide an understanding of the dynamics of the life of the people of Sorong, West Papua related to the harmony of education in family and community life. Harmony, in this case, is related to the mixing of religions in one household, framed in the philosophy of local wisdom called "One Furnace-Three Stones". This study uses a phenomenological qualitative design. Data were collected through field notes, interviews, and documentation techniques. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana techniques: data condensation, data display, and verification/conclusion drawing, as well as data validity using data triangulation techniques. The results showed that the practice of one furnace-three stone became the local wisdom of the people of Sorong, West Papua, namely understanding each other's beliefs about the religion they embraced without having to intervene in the beliefs of other families. The local wisdom creates harmony in education because it focuses on the educational aspect of self. If the education is good for the local community, then all will provide support from the family, youth leaders, and traditional leaders. Internal and external factors cause the supporting factors in realizing harmony in education. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor in realizing the harmony in education is the low economic background, which narrows the opportunity for children to choose the education they want.

The ministry of education of Indonesia has issued several provisos concerning the virtues integral to school curricula, framed as character education. Teachers and, assumedly, student teachers, shoulder fundamental roles in embracing these values into school intra- and extra- curricular designs. These designs encompass primarily lesson plans and instructional materials. Notwithstanding, the current discussions have highlighted gapping void between the aspirations toward which teachers and students are expected to march and the education by which they prepare their future character education. The present study delves into teachers and student teachers' perceptions and self-efficacy on character education. It employs descriptive quantitative design to portray the general voices among teachers and student teachers with regard to character education. The research data are collected through online survey distributed to 134 participants of diverse educational as well as professional profiles. The findings highlight the harmony among participants with regard to the urgency of embracing character education, yet ambivalence prevails when dealing with the efficacy of shouldering the task. Implications on current character education and suggestions future character education are proposed. In Indonesian setting, despite the stirrings within teacher community to give character education higher prominence, most of the participants are still doubtful about how much they can accrue positive changes in students' characters.

The purpose of this study is to determine the values and approach of humanistic education management implementation at an elementary school in order to character education strengthening (CES). The research conducted at the Sang Timur Catholic Elementary School, Batu City, that implemented value of "Kesangtimuran" as based on humanistic education management. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological techniques. The research data was collected by means of in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and narrative photos. Checking the validity of the data with triangulation method. The results of the study show that a humanistic education management approach based on "Kesangtimuran" value, by management step and carrying out innovative activities for: teachers, students, and parents, makes school members experience character enhancement, which has an impact on strengthening students' character.

This research paper explores the ethical values present in modern Javanese literature and their role in shaping identity and character education in the digital era. The study focuses on selected Javanese literary works published in the past decade, analyzing their ethical values and the relevance of these values in the contemporary context. The paper uses a qualitative research method that includes a comprehensive literature review and analysis of selected literary works. The research findings reveal that Javanese literature works continue to emphasize ethical values such as humility, respect, harmony, and social responsibility, which are relevant in the digital era. These values significantly promote individual and communal growth and develop a sense of identity and character. Literary works contribute to human life in beneficial ways. The values in literary works can serve as a source of identification and character education in the present day. Serat Piwulang Becik and Serat Madubasa II, written by Padmasusastra at the beginning of the 19th century, contain a great deal of character education and are valuable for the digital era's current generation. This study aims to describe the identity of the Javanese people, the importance of character education, and its social advantages. This study employed a qualitative design and library research methodology. Words, phrases, and sentences from the Serat Piwulang Becik and Serat Madubasa II provide data and data sources. The technique utilized for data analysis is content analysis, and the data's reliability is verified using the time technique. The study's findings indicate that the Javanese culture continues to serve as a moral compass. Character education's identity and values include honesty, respect, seeking life's virtues, limiting passions, sustaining attitudes and relationships, compassion, keeping courtesy, and being wise. The benefits of ethics education include (1) the preservation of local knowledge; (2) the maintenance of social harmony; and (3) the preservation of ethics and social institutions.

Learning or lecturing, which are an essential part of the education process, are often presented only by cramming the teaching materials' contents to students but defying values. Allowing this to continue to happen will unquestionably lead to the next generation's increasingly tense situation, who are already in a messy condition and may lose their creative character. Along with character education that is always echoed, the presence of the MURRDERR strategy (Metaphor, Understand, Recall, Recognize, Detect, Elaborate, Review, and Respect) in classroom learning is expected to be one of the excellent and attractive choices for instilling lively characters in students. This paper provides a brief overview of the results of five semesters in total, including two semesters of applying the MURRDERR strategy in lectures at the Elementary Teacher Education Program, especially in mathematics lectures. Two research phases: first, didactic design research to produce teaching materials that can optimize the emergence of creative characters and followed by a quasi-experimental method. As a result, (1) the MURRDERR strategy provided a better contribution than conventional (expository/lecturing) learning in developing the creative character of students of the Elementary School Teacher Program, (2) teaching material developed through didactic design research was beneficial in achieving optimal learning outcomes, (3) students of the Elementary School Teacher Program with a background in science education tended to equip and prepare themselves to deal with issues related to creativity.

Moral degradation is due to the lack of government attention in planning and supervising the learning process in education. This study aims to establish an economic learning model focused on Pancasila values in the Economic Education study program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, Banjarmasin. The research conducted is developmental research with the Dick & Carey model. Researchers use tests, observations, interviews, and documentation for data collection. Data were analyzed using paired t-test statistics. A team of educational and content experts, educators, and small groups validated the learning model and its tools. In this study, the informants were 88 third-semester Economics education students who are programming Indonesian economy courses. The results showed that Pancasila economics was higher in the experimental class than in the control class. The results showed that Pancasila economics in the practical grade was higher than in the control class. According to the represented Pancasila's economic principles, the Game-Based Direct Instruction Learning paradigm effectively instilled students' knowledge, enthusiasm, and behavior. The inculcation of the Pancasila economic character such as honesty, teamwork, humanity, sense of family, cooperation, and fairness are required to restore the Indonesian nation's identity as mandated by law.

Planning is a function of management that needs to be done before the implementation of an activity, whether they are activities in organisations, institutions, schools or in learning. Improper lesson planning makes goal achievement not optimal. Therefore, this study aims to describe the learning planning of prose literature that affects character education. To achieve the objectives of this study, the research method used is quantitative methods. The data collection tool is a questionnaire distributed via online media to seventh-grade teachers of junior high school in Indonesia. The results of the research analysis show that F-value is calculated as 8,614.787 with a significant value of 0.001, which means it is smaller than 0.05, so the hypothesis is accepted with the simultaneous statement that learning planning management of prose literature (X) has a significant effect on the character education (Y) of grade VII students of a public junior high school in Indonesia, and it can be implemented. The implementation of prose literature learning planning will be carried out well if character education is integrated into the learning implementation planning component.

Each nation has its motto, "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" is the motto of the Indonesian nation which first appeared in the Sutasoma Text written by Mpu Tantular. The purpose of this study is to find the character values that exist in the motto. This study uses a hermeneutic approach and follows the research steps of Paul Ricoeur. The primary data of this research is the Sutasoma text which is then analyzed using the stages of emancipatory hermeneutics. The results of the study found six-character values on the motto of "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika": (1) religious, (2) global diversity, (3) mutual cooperation, (4) brave and self-sacrificing, (5) loving, and (6) clever. These characters emerge from the values that have been carried out by Prince Sutasoma in Kakawin Sutasoma. This finding is beneficial for supporting the policy of the Indonesian government in adding the concept of strengthening character education in schools. In addition, the character values in the motto become one of the components in developing indigenous counseling typical of Indonesia in the aspect of human nature.

Madrasa (Islamic boarding school) in Indonesia have a strategic role in character building. At present madrasa education is still considered second class education. Besides, to improve the quality of madrasas can be started by improving the quality of the student national admission to all madrasas in Indonesia. This study aimed to trace the potential errors in the measurement results of Students National Admission of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (SNPDB MAN-IC) 2020. Tracing was carried out on two aspects: (1) equality between test sets used based on evidence of test responses; and (2) further tests on equality between question sets based on evidence of relationship between variables, taking into account the origin of the participating schools (MTs/JHS) and the origin of the participating regions (West, Central and East of Indonesia). This study involved 13,115 participants in 23 MAN-ICs throughout Indonesia in 2020. The materials tested comprised learning potential and academic ability (Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Studies, English, Arabic, and Islamic Religious Education). The study used achievement test with mathematics as a sample of test subjects. Based on the test response evidence, it was found that seven of the 15 questions were thought to have an indication of inequality between item sets. The results of tracing the evidence between variables indicated that it was the participants' origin of institutions that influenced the inequality between item sets. On the other hand, regional origin did not affect the inequality between item sets because the majority of participants came from the western region of Indonesia.

The curriculum is the heart of education, whose job determines the life or death of a school. This study aimed to compare the implementation of "Adiwiyata" school curriculum between public and private school in junior high schools, especially in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data collection techniques by means of literature studies. Data analysis techniques were carried out with qualitative comparative analysis. The results showed that: public and private schools in junior high schools in Bantul Regency, had fulfilled the four main components of the "Adiwiyata" curriculum, in terms of objectives, content, methods, and evaluation. The implementation of "Adiwiyata" curriculum in each public and private school varies according to the characteristics and potential of each school.

A textbook can be a medium to convey values, while teachers and learners enact as the values-carrying agents. This present study aims to investigate peace value in the national ELT textbook which was approved by Indonesian Ministry of Educational and Culture entitled "Bahasa Inggris untuk SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas XII" [English for Senior High School Grade XII]. Findings show that there are three basic sources of peace value such as inner peace (building learner's self-concept), social peace (tolerance with differences), and peace with nature (take care of the environment). This critical discourse analysis study indicates that social practice can be identified through language. Thus, it will contribute to both students and teachers in order to be aware as value agents in the ELT textbook.

Social media is one of the most influential media in all sectors and structures of socio-cultural life, government law politics, science and technology, and especially education. One of the direct impacts on education is strengthening vs. reducing student character education. The purpose of this research is to (a) explore forms of directive speech acts, (b) identify politeness strategies for directive speech acts; and (c) formulate the implications of the politeness strategies directive speech acts of the #sahkanRUUPKS comments on social media towards student' character building in the era of global computing-communication. This research is qualitative using hermeneutical psychopragmatic techniques. The object of this research was directive speech acts uttered in the #sahkanRUUPKS comments on social media 2019-2020. Data were conducted through documentation technique, notetaking technique, observation technique, and theoretical triangulation technique. Data were analyzed using politeness model of Brown-Levinson and Leech supported by analysis of politeness model of Indonesian socio-cultural harmony. The results of this research indicated that the form of public's directive speech acts in supervising government policy plan through social media appeared to be actualized into suggesting, criticizing, reminding, appealing, calling, and reminding. The realization of the category of directive speech acts of politeness indicated that the Indonesian people are participatory and accommodative towards a new plan of policy that brings benefits and good for all. The category of the politeness strategies of directive speech acts are begging and asking had a small frequency because to control the government policy plan which is essential to the value order of people's lives requires strict harmonious control. The Indonesian people had a trend to use positive politeness methods in providing input to the government. The public at the general level still showed social awareness and sensitivity towards government policy plans that are circulated through social media coverage. The forms and intentions developing on social media can be wrapped into teaching materials to strengthen character education and the values of politeness for children in the learning process at school. This can be carried out by criticizing the news circulating on social media through positive politeness strategies and wisdom maxim. The wisdom maxim instilled in children is a vital pillar in strengthening children's character education in the era of global communication.
