The study aimed to understand stroke-related Twitter conversations in India, focusing on topics, message sources, reach, and influential users to provide insights to stakeholders regarding community needs for knowledge, support, and interventions. Geo-tagged Twitter posts focusing on stroke originating from India and, spanning from November 7, 2022, to February 28, 2023, were systematically obtained via the Twitter application programming interface, using keywords and hashtags sourced through Symplur Signals. Preprocessing involved the removal of hashtags, stop words, and URLs. The Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic model was used to identify recurring stroke-related topics, while influential users were identified through social network analysis. About half of the tweets about stroke in India were about seeking support and post-stroke bereavement sharing and had the highest reachability. Four out of 10 tweets were from the individual twitter users. Tweets on the topic risk factors, awareness and prevention (14.6%) constituted the least proportion, whereas the topic management, research, and promotion had the least retweet ratio. Twitter demonstrates significant potential as a platform for both disseminating and acquiring stroke-related information within the Indian context. The identified topics and understanding of the content of discussion offer valuable resources to public health professionals and organizations to develop targeted educational and engagement strategies for the relevant audience. A study has been conducted in 22 fish farms of Ganjam district and 21 fish farms of Kalahandi district of Odisha, India. A smart approach has been applied to analyze and understand the data collected in National Surveillance Programme on Aquatic Animal Disease from November 2015 to March 2020. During survey 86 water samples were collected and evaluated, 50 of which were from Ganjam district and 36 from Kalahandi district. The water quality parameters selected for assessment were pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, nitrite, phosphate, alkalinity and hardness. Except for ammonia level in some farms of Kalahandi district, the values were found to be within desirable ranges. In fin fishes, argulosis and aeromoniasis were found to be predominant parasitic and bacterial infection. In order to investigate the association and influence of physicochemical parameters on disease occurrence in two districts, an unsupervised machine learning approach was applied to the dataset. It was observed that water quality parameters except ammonia have minimal effect on the occurrence of disease. Background: Studies on Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) have revealed heterogeneous sub-populations in terms of underlying pathologies. However, the identification of sub-populations in epidemiological datasets remains unexplored. We here focus on the detection of T2DM clusters in epidemiological data, specifically analysing the National Family Health Survey-4 (NFHS-4) dataset from India containing a wide spectrum of features, including medical history, dietary and addiction habits, socio-economic and lifestyle patterns of 10,125 T2DM patients., Methods: Epidemiological data provide challenges for analysis due to the diverse types of features in it. In this case, applying the state-of-the-art dimension reduction tool UMAP conventionally was found to be ineffective for the NFHS-4 dataset, which contains diverse feature types. We implemented a distributed clustering workflow combining different similarity measure settings of UMAP, for clustering continuous, ordinal and nominal features separately. We integrated the reduced dimensions from each feature-type-distributed clustering to obtain interpretable and unbiased clustering of the data., Results: Our analysis reveals four significant clusters, with two of them comprising mainly of non-obese T2DM patients. These non-obese clusters have lower mean age and majorly comprises of rural residents. Surprisingly, one of the obese clusters had 90% of the T2DM patients practising a non-vegetarian diet though they did not show an increased intake of plant-based protein-rich foods., Conclusions: From a methodological perspective, we show that for diverse data types, frequent in epidemiological datasets, feature-type-distributed clustering using UMAP is effective as opposed to the conventional use of the UMAP algorithm. The application of UMAP-based clustering workflow for this type of dataset is novel in itself. Our findings demonstrate the presence of heterogeneity among Indian T2DM patients with regard to socio-demography and dietary patterns. From our analysis, we conclude that the existence of significant non-obese T2DM sub-populations characterized by younger age groups and economic disadvantage raises the need for different screening criteria for T2DM among rural Indian residents., (© 2022. Objectives: Ground-glass opacity (GGO)-a hazy, gray appearing density on computed tomography (CT) of lungs-is one of the hallmark features of SARS-CoV-2 in COVID-19 patients. This AI-driven study is focused on segmentation, morphology, and distribution patterns of GGOs., Method: We use an AI-driven unsupervised machine learning approach called PointNet++ to detect and quantify GGOs in CT scans of COVID-19 patients and to assess the severity of the disease. We have conducted our study on the "MosMedData", which contains CT lung scans of 1110 patients with or without COVID-19 infections. We quantify the morphologies of GGOs using Minkowski tensors and compute the abnormality score of individual regions of segmented lung and GGOs., Results: PointNet++ detects GGOs with the highest evaluation accuracy (98%), average class accuracy (95%), and intersection over union (92%) using only a fraction of 3D data. On average, the shapes of GGOs in the COVID-19 datasets deviate from sphericity by 15% and anisotropies in GGOs are dominated by dipole and hexapole components. These anisotropies may help to quantitatively delineate GGOs of COVID-19 from other lung diseases., Conclusion: The PointNet++ and the Minkowski tensor based morphological approach together with abnormality analysis will provide radiologists and clinicians with a valuable set of tools when interpreting CT lung scans of COVID-19 patients. Implementation would be particularly useful in countries severely devastated by COVID-19 such as India, where the number of cases has outstripped available resources creating delays or even breakdowns in patient care.
