Background: Our aim is to investigate the acetabular component positioning using TAL & its functional outcomes in primary THA as assessed by modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS). Materials and Methods: 30 patients were selected randomly in this prospective study after getting clearance from the research and ethical committee in a Tertiary care centre in North India. All Total Hip Arthroplasty surgeries were performed using direct lateral Hardinge's approach & used TAL was used as the guide for positioning the acetabular cup. Acetabular version and inclination were assessed using a CT scan and functional outcome was evaluated using mHHS. Results: The mean absolute position of the acetabular cup in our study population included 15.3±5.85 degrees of anteversion and 42.7±5.31 degrees of inclination angle. 86.67% of patients had both acetabular version and inclination within Lewinnek's "safe zone" with only a single case of postoperative dislocation. The correlation between the cup version and mHHS was significant (p-value=0.028) whereas the correlation between acetabular inclination and mHHS was insignificant (p-value=0.29. Conclusion: TAL is a reliable, inexpensive and patient-specific intra-operative anatomical landmark for the placement of acetabular components with efficacy comparable to that of a mechanical alignment guide (MAG). Here, authors present a review on clinical presentation and management of exposure of phosgene gas after reviewing the literature by searching with keywords phosgene exposure on Google, Cochrane, Embase and PubMed with a background of experience gained from 10 patients who were admitted to our institute after an accidental phosgene exposure in February 2011 nearby a city in India. Phosgene is a highly toxic gas, occupational workers may have accidental exposure. The gas can also be generated inadvertently during fire involving plastics and other chemicals and solvents containing chlorine, which is of concern to emergency responders. Phosgene inhalation may cause initially symptoms of respiratory tract irritation, patients feel fine thereafter, and then die of choking a day later because of build up of fluid in the lungs (delayed onset non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema). Phosgene exposure is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Patients with a history of exposure should be admitted to the hospital for a minimum of 24 h for observation because of the potential for delayed onset respiratory failure and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Purpose: This study evaluated the three year clinical outcomes and predictors of success for unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) in an Indian population., Methods: Twenty patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis (≥ Ahlbäck grade 2) underwent UKA. American Knee Society Score (AKSS), Oxford Knee Score (OKS), and Visual Analogue Scale Score (VAS) were assessed at baseline, two weeks, six weeks, three months, and three years. Postoperative Hip Knee Ankle angle (HKA) and the Knee Joint Line Obliquity angle (KJO) were measured., Results: At three years, UKA led to significant improvements in knee health, function, and pain. AKKS improved from 62.20 ± 5.27 to 90.60 ± 3.81, OKS from 37.00 ± 1.55 to 19.15 ± 1.93, and VAS from 8.45 ± 0.69 to 2.40 ± 0.59 (all P < 0.05). Preoperative VAS was significantly correlated with both preoperative and postoperative outcomes of knee health and function (preoperative and three year AKSS and OKS), and limb alignment (HKA and KJO). Preoperative AKSS correlated with postoperative knee health and functional outcomes (3-year AKSS and OKS), pain levels (3-year VAS), and limb alignment (KJO)., Conclusions: In this study of an Indian population, UKA demonstrated significant, sustained clinical improvements over three years, with no implant-related complications. In our cohort, preoperative pain and knee health significantly predicted outcomes. These findings suggest that preoperative assessment and optimization of both pain and knee health may potentially enhance the postoperative outcomes after UKA., Competing Interests: Declarations. Objective: The abdominal aorta is a continuation of the thoracic aorta and gives off the coeliac trunk, superior mesenteric artery, and inferior mesenteric artery. The focus of our study is to evaluate variations in the origin level in the coeliac trunk, superior mesenteric artery, inferior mesenteric artery, and aortic bifurcation in the Indian population and compare with various demographics., Methods: The study was retrospective and the local ethics committee approval was taken before starting it. Three hundred patients who were more than 18 years of age and required contrast-enhanced CT studies were included in this. The vertebral origin level of the arteries from the abdominal aorta and aortic bifurcation level was analysed., Results: The most common origin level of the coeliac trunk for both males and females was T12-L1 disc level. The most common origin level of the superior mesenteric artery was L1 upper level. The most common origin level of the inferior mesenteric artery was L3 upper level. The most common level of aortic bifurcation was L4 middle level. There was no statistical difference between the origin of any arteries in males and females in the Indian population., Conclusion: As per our study of the Indian population and the published literature, it is realized that there are significant variations in the origins of the coeliac trunk, superior mesenteric artery, inferior mesenteric artery, and abdominal aorta bifurcation in different populations., Advances in Knowledge: This study elaborates on potential anatomical variations in the Indian population, particularly the Mumbai city population. Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has impacted cancer care globally. The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on cancer healthcare from the perspective of patients with cancer., Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between June 19, 2020, to August 7, 2020, using a questionnaire designed by patients awaiting cancer surgery. We examined the impact of COVID-19 on five domains (financial status, healthcare access, stress, anxiety, and depression) and their relationship with various patient-related variables. Factors likely to determine the influence of COVID-19 on patient care were analyzed., Results: A significant adverse impact was noted in all five domains (p =  < 0.05), with the maximal impact felt in the domain of financial status followed by healthcare access. Patients with income levels of INR < 35 K (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 1.61, p < 0.05), and 35K- 100 K (AOR = 1.96, p < 0.05), married patients (AOR = 3.30, p < 0.05), and rural patients (AOR = 2.82, p < 0.05) experienced the most adverse COVID-19-related impact., Conclusion: Delivering quality cancer care in low to middle-income countries is a challenge even in normal times. During this pandemic, deficiencies in this fragile healthcare delivery system were exacerbated. Identification of vulnerable groups of patients and strategic utilization of available resources becomes even more important during global catastrophes, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is afflicting young individuals more frequently nowadays. The present study was planned to evaluate the clinical and angiographic profile in adults aged less than 30 years, presenting with first AMI as data from Central India is very scarce. This cross-sectional study included 41 patients of STEMI with a mean age of 27 ± 2.8 years. Risk factors were male gender (95.1%), dyslipidemia (51.2%), tobacco consumption (48.8%), obesity (34.1%), and smoking (29.3%).
