Paediatric extra-cranial solid tumours are one of the common causes for paediatric malignancies. Lack of appropriate imaging at presentation, staging and for follow-up is a major challenge for paediatric solid tumours. We have reviewed the paediatric solid tumour imaging protocols suggested by the major oncological societies/groups around the world (mainly the SIOP – Society International Pediatric Oncology, and the COG – Children's Oncology Group). We have adapted some of those protocols to develop imaging recommendations for the diagnosis, staging and management of extra-cranial solid tumours based on the treatment protocols followed in India. Purpose: The treatment of intermediate risk (IR) neuroblastoma has evolved with the focus now on reducing the drugs, dosage, and duration of chemotherapy. The aim of this study is to present the outcomes of treatment and the complications of surgery in patients with IR neuroblastoma treated at a tertiary cancer center in India.Methods: All eligible patients with IR neuroblastoma treated between April 2005 and August 2016 were identified. The presence and number of image-defined risk factors (IDRF) before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy were retrospectively analyzed as were the extent of surgery, complications, and outcomes.Results: Of 282 neuroblastoma patients treated during the study period, 54 had IR neuroblastoma. Complete excision was achieved in 25 patients. There were 26 surgical complications in 22 patients with a similar incidence in patients with complete (n = 13) or incomplete (n = 13) resection (p = 0.78). After a median follow-up of 47 months, the 4-year overall and event-free survival was 91.5% and 75%, respectively. There was no difference in survival between patients who underwent complete resection versus those with incomplete resection (p = 0.9).Conclusion: Outcomes of IR neuroblastoma are favorable. Background: This study investigates the nuanced experiences of faculty members in higher education institutions during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Focusing on family-work conflict, job satisfaction, and personal wellbeing, the research aims to provide comprehensive insights into the challenges and adaptations encountered by faculty members amidst unprecedented disruptions. Method: A mixed-method approach was employed, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative measures. The quantitative facet involved 82 participants who responded surveys distributed to faculty members across diverse regions of India. Concurrently, qualitative data were collected through interviews with 30 faculty members in three states. The quantitative study utilized standardized tools, while the qualitative inquiry followed a semi-structured interview schedule. Result: Quantitative findings revealed a significant upswing in job satisfaction after institutional reopening compared to the lockdown period. However, no significant differences were observed concerning work-family conflict and personal wellbeing. Notably, faculty members reported heightened work-family and family-work interference compared to national statistics. Qualitative responses highlight a notable shift in teaching methodologies, incorporating multimedia and online tools. Faculty members exhibited mixed sentiments about returning to the office, expressed a deepened appreciation for social relationships post-reopening, and emphasized the positive impact of institutional hygiene protocols. Conclusion: This study offers crucial insights into the multifaceted experiences of faculty members in higher institutions during the COVID-19 lockdown and subsequent reopening. The research contributes valuable perspectives to the evolving discourse on post-pandemic academia, providing a foundation for further exploration and understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by faculty members in the changing scenario of higher education. Background: Diabetes-related dyslipidemia is a multifaceted, complicated disorder characterized by an abnormal lipid profile in individuals with diabetes. The incidence of different types of dyslipidemia, however, was not a focus of prior investigations. The patients were characterized into three categories of dyslipidemia. Different patterns of dyslipidemia were combined into single dyslipidemia (7 patterns), mixed dyslipidemia (16 patterns), and triple dyslipidemia (4 patterns)., Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 586 people suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were included. We assessed the serum lipid profile and used log (TG/HDL-C) to determine the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP). Dyslipidemia was examined as a categorical variable, and the findings were presented as percentages and numbers. To compare categorical variables, we either utilized Fisher exact tests or Chi square tests., Results: The study comprised of 586 T2DM patients, with 310 (52.9%) women and 276 (47.1%) men. Women have significantly higher hypertension (33.6%) as compared to men (23.2%). 18.94% (111) of patients were having coronary artery disease (CAD) history consisting of 12.28% (72) females and 6.66% (39) males, a difference which is statistically significant. 98.12% of total individuals had as a minimum of one lipid abnormality. 4.61% (27) of study subjects were having isolated dyslipidemia and 93.51% (548) had dual or triple pattern of dyslipidemia (mixed dyslipidemia). High AIP >0.24 (94.8%) was the most predominant trend of dyslipidemia. The dual combination of AIP (>0.24) and HDL (<50 mg/dL in Females and <40 mg/dL in Males) was found to be the most common pattern of mixed dyslipidemia (68.08%). The most prevalent trend of isolated dyslipidemia was found to be high AIP (>0.24), In patients with CAD history. Among the mixed dyslipidemia, the common pattern of dyslipidemia (71.17%) was the dual combination of high AIP (>0.24) and low HDL (<50 mg/dL women and <40 mg/dL males). The triple combination of TG (≥200 mg/dL) and HDL (<40 and <50 mg/dL) and LDL (≥100 mg/dL) was only found in females., Conclusion: In conclusion, dyslipidemia is highly prevalent in T2DM patients, with mixed dyslipidemia being the most common type observed in the community of Kashmir valley, India. Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) serotype Asia1 is prevalent in India and is responsible for a minor proportion of FMD outbreaks. Globally, serotype Asia1 is grouped into nine different groups (GI-IX) based on genetic analysis. In India, only Asia1/G-III and Asia1/G-VIII have been documented so far. Phylogenetic analysis of recent serotype Asia1 isolates from India revealed the emergence of Asia1/G-IX. The Asia1/G-IX lineage shares recent common ancestry with Asia1/G-VIII dating to 2016. The root state posterior probabilities of Asia1/G-VIII are inclusive and there may have been either an incursion of the virus from Bangladesh, where it was first identified, or in situ evolution of the virus within India, which is an intriguing possibility. BACKGROUND: Medication errors may account up to one-third of all medical errors in hospitals, thereby leading to adverse outcomes such as higher mortality rate and longer hospital stay. OBJECTIVES: The primary objective of the study was to determine whether patient safety can be improved by clinical pharmacy services. The study also aimed to reveal whether medication errors can be prevented by any means. METHODS: A prospective, observational study was conducted in a multispecialty hospital in India. Prescription audit was performed for patients followed by necessary intervention by the concerned physician. Chi-squared test, paired t-test and ANOVA were performed to test statistical significance. RESULTS: A total of 699 errors were encountered by 501 of 1149 patients enrolled. Prescription errors accounted for the majority (87.1%) of errors followed by administration (7.4%), transcription (4.3%) and dispensing (1.2%) errors. Average error per patient showed a significant gradual decline from baseline (2.08) to the final follow-up (1.06). ICU patients encountered a higher rate (52.8%) of errors than general ward group (42.8%), while geriatric population witnessed a low error rate (18.8%) compared to adults (72%). CONCLUSIONS: The study was not only successful in highlighting the impact of medication error assessment on patient safety, but it also demonstrated that medication errors can be lowered with the help of clinical pharmacy services.
