Sharing of resources is a common feature of human societies. Yet, there is substantial societal variation in children's generosity, and this variation emerges during middle childhood. Societal differences in self-construal orientation may be one factor influencing the ontogeny of generosity. Here, we examine anonymous Dictator Game sharing in 7-and-8-year-olds from two distinct societies: India and the UK (N = 180). We used self-construal manipulations to investigate whether priming self- or other-focused conversations would differentially influence children's generosity. There were no differences in generosity between populations. While a significant reduction in generosity was found following self-priming in both societies, other-priming was ineffectual. The article analyzes Indian and Chinese sovereignty claims on the Brahmaputra river through the lens of securitization theory. The approach, which looks at the escalation of an issue from normal to emergency politics, allows us to examine the resultant redefinition of the state's rights and prerogatives. Taking the Brahmaputra river basin as its case study, the article focuses on the multiple hydropolitical contexts in which India's and China's pitched efforts to assert their respective user rights on its waters is situated. The securitization this has entailed, by way of structural, institutional, and discursive mechanisms, has only served to amplify existing patterns of state behavior, be it hydro-nationalism or opacity in information sharing. Drawing on experiences from other case studies of transboundary river basin management, it seeks to examine how the water conflicts between both states could be resolved. The article argues that federalizing the securitization debate in India is essential to grasping the layered narratives that have evolved around the Brahmaputra. Acknowledging the polyphonic nature of securitization would open new avenues for desecuritizing the water discourse. This paper argues that self-authored depictions of illness, disability, trauma and bodily hurt by marginalised individuals have deep agentic potential, particularly when these experiences are retold within empathetic online spaces on their own terms and in their own words. This is seldom possible in mainstream institutional settings which are structured by hegemonic norms and where the marginalised are often spoken for. Through an analysis of selected writings in Skin Stories, an Indian collective feminist media publication that publishes gendered articulations of disability, illness and healing, this paper explores the potential of marginalised writings in reclaiming control over one's bodily narrative, sharing knowledge and forging spaces of empathy and connection. It analyses ways in which authors through "intimate vulnerable retellings" of everyday as well as traumatic bodily events/processes like ongoing illness, lifelong chronic pain and sudden disability reclaim and own narratives of bodily vulnerability. These retellings are analysed as interconnected, shared experiences that bear deep knowledge and challenge medicalised understandings. By acknowledging "bodies as knowledge" rather than "bodies as data" these retellings could potentially supplement and enrich medical approaches in managing and understanding chronic pain and illness specifically in India, thereby piecing together experience, knowledge(s) and expertise. This cross‐sectional study examined gender differences between male‐ and female‐typed housework during the early COVID‐19 lockdowns in 2020. Participants in Germany, India, Nigeria, and South Africa (N = 823) rated their housework share before and during the lockdown, then speculated about the division of housework performed by men and women in general, before and post‐lockdown. Women spent more time on female‐typed tasks and men (in Nigeria and South Africa) on male‐typed tasks before and during the lockdown. Irrespective of participants' gender, they speculated that men's and women's housework was more pronounced post‐lockdown than before, but we only found gender differences in South Africa and India. Gender role ideology (GRI) moderated the gender‒housework relationship in Germany, but gender did not moderate the paid work hours and housework relationship in any country. Our findings suggest that gendered housework persisted in these countries and raises concerns that this pattern is likely to continue post‐lockdown. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Literature is highly inconsistent in describing the proximal attachment of the anterolateral ligament (ALL) and its relationship with the lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in human knees. This observational study aims to investigate that lacuna. The gross dissection was performed in the lower limbs (n = 83) from the donated adult-age (> 18 years) embalmed cadavers from medical institutions in the north and east India. The dissected knee specimens were first examined macroscopically. Further routine and special staining and microscopic examinations were performed. The ALL was absent in approximately 20.4% of the studied knee specimens (17/83). In remaining, the sharing of ALL and LCL proximal fibers was observed as a consistent finding (~ 97%) with rare exceptions. The mean length of the tibial and meniscal limbs of ALL was 1.57 ± 0.8 cm [Range (R) 0.5–4 cm] and 0.73 ± 0.47 cm [Range (R) 0.1–1.6 cm], respectively. In addition, multiple variations in its presentation were observed. We propose that the proximal sharing of LCL-ALL fibers is a dominant feature in the studied population. The sharing of the fibers may impact the biomechanics and injury mechanisms for both ligaments. The possibility of ethnic variations in the ALL morphology should be a concern during reconstruction surgery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Gujarat is one of India’s most bio-diverse states and is very rich in biological diversity with regards to Asiatic lion, indigenous cow breeds (Gir), indigenous Kesar mango, microbes, insects, and bryophytes etc. Access and benefit sharing (ABS) clause through an additional CBD protocol known as the Nagoya Protocol for the Utilisation of Biological Resources and shared between users and providers for the protection of biological resources. In India, in line with this notion, the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and Rules, 2004 were enacted by the Parliament of India. For this paper, data related to Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs), People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs), and the status of applications for access and benefit sharing in states was gathered and analysed for the status of the implementation of access and benefit sharing (ABS) from biological resources in Gujarat. Moreover, the level of awareness among the prominent users (industries) of biological resources related to access and benefit sharing (ABS) was assessed through the generation of a telephonic questionnaire survey of different sets of questions. Purpose: Technology has eased access to information. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, ease of access and transmission of information via social media has led to ambiguity, misinformation and uncertainty. This research studies the aforementioned behaviours of information sharing and verification related to COVID-19, in the context of social media. Design/methodology/approach: Two studies have been carried out. Study 1, with Indian social media users, is a two-factor between-subjects experimental design that investigated the effect of message polarity (positive versus negative) and message type (news versus rumour) on the dissemination and verification behaviour of COVID-19-related messages. The study also investigated the mediation of perceived message importance and health anxiety. Study 2 is a replica study conducted with US users. Findings: The study finding revealed significantly higher message sharing for news than rumour. Further, for the Indian users, message with positive polarity led to higher message sharing and message with negative polarity led to higher verification behaviour. On the contrary, for the US users, message with negative polarity led to higher message sharing and message with positive polarity led to higher verification behaviour. Finally, the study revealed message importance mediates the relationship of message type and message sharing behaviour for Indian and US users; however, health anxiety mediation was significant only for Indian users. Practical implications: The findings offer important implications related to information regulation during a health crisis. Unverified information sharing is harmful during a pandemic. The study sheds light on this behaviour such that stakeholders get insights and better manage the information being disseminated. Originality/value: The study investigates the behaviour of sharing and verification of social media messages between users containing health information (news and rumour) related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. When social and economic conditions change dramatically, status hierarchies in place for hundreds of years can crumble as marketization destabilizes once rigid boundaries. This study examines such changes in symbolic power through an ethnographic study of a village in North India. Marketization and accompanying privatization do not create an independent sphere where only money matters, but due to a mix of new socioeconomic motives, they produce new social obligations, contests, and solidarities. These findings call into question the emphasis in consumer research on top-down class emulation as an essential characteristic of status hierarchies. This study offers insights into sharing as a means of enacting and reshaping symbolic power within a status hierarchy. A new order based on markets and consumption is disrupting the old order based on caste. As the old moral order dissolves, so do the old status hierarchies, obligations, dispositions, and norms of sharing that held the village together for centuries. The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was adopted in 1992. This Convention had three major objectives: conservation of biological diversity, sustainable use of its component, and access and benefit sharing of biological resources arising out of their utilisation. The Nagoya Protocol to the CBD was adopted in 2010 for the fulfilment of the third objective of the CBD, access and benefit sharing. Article 7 of the Nagoya Protocol imposes an obligation on states parties to ensure that "prior and informed consent or approval or involvement" of the indigenous and local communities is taken before their knowledge is accessed. The present study first analyses the contents of Article 7 of the Nagoya Protocol. It will throw light on the meaning of the phrase "prior and informed consent or approval and involvement" as used in Article 7. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the influence of shared goals and hope on knowledge sharing and knowledge creation in organizations. Furthermore, it examines the mediating role of hope in the relationship between shared goals and knowledge sharing and between shared goals and knowledge creation. Design/methodology/approach: This study has used quantitative research methodology wherein the data have been collected from 221 employees of information technology (IT) companies in India using survey questionnaire. Structural equation modelling has been applied to test the hypotheses of the study. Findings: The findings of the study reveal that shared goals and hope positively influence knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. Shared goals also affects hope positively. Further, hope acts as a mediator between shared goals and knowledge sharing and between shared goals and knowledge creation. Research limitations/implications: This study is a cross-sectional study conducted in IT companies in India. It can be supplemented by future studies through qualitative approaches and longitudinal data collection. Practical implications: The study makes a significant contribution to literature by considering shared goals and hope as antecedents of knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. It provides directions to managers to focus on various interventions to strengthen shared goals and hope amongst employees to motivate them to share and create knowledge that can help the organization to get sustainable competitive advantage. Originality/value: To the best of authors' knowledge, this study is an early study conducted to examine the influence of shared goals and hope on knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. Instagram is one of the fastest-growing photo sharing social media platforms. Drawing from the uses and gratification theory (U&G theory), this study examines the gratifications in photo sharing on Instagram. Participants were 639 respondents from India aged between 15 to 62 years. This study identified seven gratifications: disclosure, peer influence, trend influence, self-promotion, diversion, habitual pastime, and social interaction. Hierarchical regression of the survey reported that active users with disclosure and peer influence gratification shared more photos online. This study also found that: Age is in positive correlation with peer influence and negative correlation with diversion; gender differences were identified among disclosure, peer influence, self-promotion, and social interaction gratifications. Sharing photographs and stories with a pastoral group in Jammu and Kashmir State, India, we consider questions about repatriation. Images from the early 1980s were shared from 2009 to 2010,, by which point many of the pastoralists had moved to the main town, Leh, in the province of Ladakh where they work primarily as laborers. The literature on repatriation of images and objects focuses largely on historical collections and their political implications, but this article explores the process of working within living memory. • Children increase sharing to collaborators after achieving a joint concrete goal. • Increased sharing to collaborators is not extended to earned resources. • Social play did not result in increased sharing. • The influence of collaboration on sharing is sensitive to early sociocultural experience. Research has shown that preschoolers developing in Western societies increase sharing after collaborating to earn resources, suggesting that collaboration is an important context for the development of fairness. The current study sought to explore the influence of collaboration on sharing among young children (N = 132, 3–6 years of age) developing in rural India, a population that shows an increased sensitivity to fairness after collaboration among older children. The effect of three forms of social interaction on children's sharing were compared: collaborating toward a joint concrete goal of earning resources that could subsequently be shared, collaborating toward a joint concrete goal without earning resources, and playing a social game without earning resources. The only context where children increased sharing was after collaborating toward a joint concrete goal without earning resources. Overall, these findings suggest that increased sharing between collaborators may show greater contextual sensitivity and influence of early sociocultural experience than has been previously understood. The dawn of 21st century is a gloomy picture for future generations of India because of increasing water scarcity, which is often fabricating threats of water conflicts. Water is a critical shared resource, and its flow is not restricted to any political boundaries. This necessitates peaceful sharing of water resources both within and among countries. Sharing water is a complex task in most cases in the present era of water conflicts. India, which relished its past fame as water prosperous country, today is moving towards becoming a water stressed nation due to rapid population upsurges and unequal distribution. The demand for water has tripled at a time when the supply of water services is inefficient with socio-economic diversities. Poverty has already become a constant threat for the economy, and water should not add to it. The development policies in India including water resources tend to give primacy to economic cost, disregarding environmental and social cost. This has aggravated tensions further. Considering the existing water-sharing treaties and arrangement with neighbors and suggesting sustainable measures to prevent conflicts and tackle water scarcity is a big challenge for researchers and Indian policy makers today. This is mainly because along with India its neighbors also share the common problems of poverty, population rise, and water stress. A peaceful sharing thus becomes complex many times and hence conflicts in many cases become obvious phenomena. This paper thus intends to comprehend in conceptual terms the extent to which the prevalent water sharing among India and its neighbors is peaceful and whether the water scarcity and population rise in India intensifies the chances for water conflicts. In doing this, it tries to start by addressing the water problems. This paper has concentrated much on the Ganges-Brahmaputra Meghna Basins (GBB), which is the thirteenth largest river basin in the world, densely populated, and shared with a number of neighbors. The current debates opposing plans to link rivers of the Ganga basin and Brahmaputra Barak with water deficient regions such as western and southern India in order to handle drought and floods and water scarcity, in a broad sense, develops insecurities in the minds of rational people on the chances of water conflicts.
