The purpose of this study is to accelerate green consumerism efforts by assisting green marketers in identifying the homogeneous and significant eco-friendly customer segments emerging in India. The study determines the antecedents driving customers to purchase green products, which can be leveraged while targeting the studied customer group and designing promotional strategies for these microgreen segments. Non-probability criterion-based sampling technique was used in collecting the data across Pan India through various online platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. The exploratory factor analysis, followed by the cluster and discriminant analysis, is conducted for inferential results. The results reveal eight major factors influencing green consumer behavior, out of which green habit, green culture awareness and attitude, interpersonal influence, and green purchase intention/behavior emerged as the most significant factors. The study establishes two important clusters of green consumers, that is, "Green Dads"-generation Y males and "Green Janes"-generation Z females, with social media marketing and subjective norms as the most influential factors in discriminating between these two clusters. This research magnifies the importance of profiling customers based on demographics, psychographics, behavioral variables, and external marketing cues. The varied combinations of factors concerning ecological behavior imply the focus on micro variables by marketers, hence promulgating the projected granularity of green market segmentation and consequential consumer behavior., (© 2024. Mucormycosis or black fungus infection is a less common disease but highly fatal infection, infecting the immunocompromised individuals. The site of predilection of the fungus is found to be lungs and brain in addition to its sequestration in sinusoidal spaces. Presently with the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, the prevalence of this infection is found to be high in the Indian population. The fungus establishes itself by affecting the compromised immune system of an individual and thereby making the individual susceptible to other diseases/infection. The reasons attributed to the sudden upsurge are steroidal therapeutics abuse, tocilizumab therapy and diabetes mellitus.To avert the cytokine storm, the medical health workers are necessitated to include steroid drugs in COVID 19 treatment protocol however inclusion of these drugs in patients who do essentially require steroids can have their immune system debilitated and permit the invasion of this fungus. According to International Diabetes Federation (IDF), 77 million Indians are known to be diabetic, cautioning the physicians to be vigilante of the impending black fungus infection in the event of COVID19 affliction in such individuals. There is causal relationship between anti-hyperglycemic drugs and weakened immune system and opportunity for the fungus invasion. Context: The acquisition of antibiotic without a prescription by the general population is a typical practice found in community pharmacies across India, which is a notable contributor of antimicrobial resistance. According to the present regulation in India, sale of certain antimicrobials included in schedule H1 without prescription is unlawful. In this contest, a program was organized by the Drug Control Administration, Government of Andhra Pradesh, to educate pharmacists regarding schedule H1., Aims: The aim of our study is to assess the impact of the program on the rate of antibiotics dispensed at community pharmacies., Settings and Design: A cross-sectional study was designed to investigate the nonprescription sale of antibiotics, from September to December 2018 through 200 community pharmacies located in and around Guntur city located in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India., Subjects and Methods: A simulated client methodology was used in this study. A total of 3 female actors including an author of this present study are prior trained to present a standardized simulation of clinical conditions (sore throat, urinary tract infection, cold, and fever) to the pharmacist at the community pharmacies., Statistical Analysis Used: Microsoft excel sheet was used for data analysis., Results: The simulated patients successfully obtained antibiotic from 78% pharmacies with the highest rate of urinary tract infection when compared to other conditions. Pharmacists who objected to dispense antibiotics (22%) are found in developed locations in the city and appeared well qualified., Conclusions: The present study revealed that the antibiotics are continued to be sold without prescription even after the education program on schedule H1. In this study, we sequenced the full-length HIV type 2 (HIV-2) long terminal repeat region from the proviral DNA of 23 HIV-2-infected individuals from the southern parts of India. We identified two different promoter variant strains circulating in this region along with the globally circulating common promoter variant. Seven sequences had an additional nuclear factor kappa-light chain enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) binding motif and the sequence from another subject showed one NF-κB and one RBE-III binding site. Phylogenetic and subtyping analyses revealed that the circulating strains comprised HIV-2 subtype A. The occurrence of two NF-κB binding sites in ∼30% of the sequences analyzed in our study prompts us to hypothesize that as in the case of HIV-1 subtype C viruses that possess additional κB sites, the two NF-κB HIV-2 variants might possess superior replication fitness because of the increased magnitude of transcription, thus leading to the expansion of these variants in the country.

Objective: To determine the effect of SLCO1B1 gene polymorphisms (rs11045819, rs4149032 and rs4149033) on rifampicin (RMP) concentrations in adult tuberculosis (TB) patients from south India., Methods: We genotyped adult TB patients for three SLCO1B1 gene polymorphisms-rs11045819, rs4149032 and rs4149033-and compared 2-h post-dosing RMP concentrations of the different genotypes for each of the polymorphisms. Plasma RMP was determined using high-performance liquid chromatography. Genotyping was performed using direct sequencing., Results: Among the 256 study patients, minor allele frequencies were respectively 0.01 (A), 0.46 (C) and 0.07 (A) for rs11045819, rs4149032 and rs4149033 polymorphisms; genotype distributions followed Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. RMP concentrations did not significantly differ between the different genotypes of the three polymorphisms., Conclusion: This is the first study to show that rs11045819, rs4149032 and rs4149033 polymorphisms in the SLCO1B1 gene did not influence RMP concentrations in Indian patients.
