Contribution: This article has shown that self-efficacy in performing complex computer programming tasks and the self-regulation of electrical and electronics engineering undergraduate students varies with respect to the class standing and prior experience in computer programming. Background: Computer programming is an essential skill that all engineers must possess, as most industries require engineers to own this skill. Prior studies discuss programming self-efficacy (PSE) measures; however, these studies do not specifically measure the PSE of electrical and electronics engineering major in the Indian context. Research Questions: The overarching research question of this article is: What factors related to participants’ demographics, vicarious experiences, and performance accomplishments influence the PSE of electrical and electronics engineering students in India? Methodology: To answer the above research question, a study is conducted using quantitative methods in engineering education research. This article focuses on the development of a survey instrument to measure the PSE of electrical and electronics engineering students of India. The survey includes a total of 31 items, content validity and face validity were established. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted, and the final two factors are “basic programming tasks and dependence” and “complex programming tasks and self-regulation.” A multiple regression analysis was performed to find the best fitting model for the two factors. Findings: The regression model with “basic programming tasks and dependence” was not statistically significant and the regression model with “complex programming tasks and self-regulation” was found to be statistically significant with predictors class standing and prior programming experience. A method coupled with a GUI based computer program, FRGMLSTRK, coded in JAVA, has been developed to interactively model the gravity anomalies of strike-limited listric fault sources where the detached hanging wall of the structure consists of several geologic formations that have different densities and thicknesses. The program is simple and user friendly in the sense that it allows interactive model construction and modification, the display of fault geometry, depth and the densities of various sub-surface formations, and real-time computation of the gravity anomalies arising from the model. The non-planar fault planes are analytically constructed by fitting a polynomial function of arbitrary but specific degree to a set of points selected on the fault plane by means of a few mouse clicks in the structure panel of the graphical layout. Further, input parameters pertaining to depths and densities of formations can be specified by means of mouse clicks in respective panels. Subsequent changes in these parameters can be realized by simple drag and drop mouse operations. The modeled gravity anomalies are automatically updated and displayed whenever changes are made to: (i) the geometry of the fault plane; (ii) depths of density interfaces; and (iii) densities of formations. These changes can be made either independently or in combination. In addition to displaying the results in graphical form, the code also generates the output in ASCII format. The applicability of the code is demonstrated with both a simple synthetic model and real-world gravity anomalies from the margin of the Chintalpudi sub-basin in India. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rabindranath Tagore imbued Indian dance and music with a new modern sensibility. He created novel and eclectic dance-and-music genres, Rabindranritya and Rabindrasangeet, when the national trend was toward classical revivalism. He inspired Indian women to dance on the national stage at a time when dance was associated with immorality and cultural degeneration. This article explores Tagore’s song and dance creations, connecting them to his radical political and philosophical thought on universal humanism. Focusing on his views on creativity and freedom, nationalism and cosmopolitanism, and women and essentialism, it is argued that this eclectic intercultural synthesis of ideas served to promote individual consciousness, empowerment and cosmopolitanism without rejecting their Indic cultural roots. Six new species of the genus Pyrenula are described as new to science from various countries in the tropics. Pyrenula borneensis is described from Borneo, P. endocrocea from the Philippines, P. hawaiiensis from Hawaii, P. rinodinospora from Papua New Guinea, P. rubrojavanica from Java, and P. thailandica from Papua New Guinea, India and Thailand. The epic poem Ramayana from India, has spread throughout among many regions of Southeast Asia, having been adopted as the main theme in various performing art forms such as theater, dance drama, and mask dance even up to the present day. In Java, the Ramayana has been performed in wayang kulit (puppet theatre), wayang golek(rod puppet theatre), wayang orang(dance drama), and sendratari (dance drama for the tourists). Two lineages can be found in Indonesia's Ramayana: one based on the classical Sanskrit version as written by Valmiki, and another derived from the Serat Kandha scripts created after the 16th century. These two lineages, actually coexist and occasionally meld in the folklore. Generally, sendratari tend to be faithful to the Valmiki version of the Ramayana, whereas we can see episodes distinctive to Java in the wayang kulit and the wayang golek repertories. In this article, I consider about the Ramayana folklore in sendratari, citing the characteristic structure and plot in the performance. I pointed out the characteristic elements as follows; (1)The Ramayana in sendaratari follows the linear plot of the classical version of the Ramayana. In contrast, the traditional theater such as wayang, emphasizes the stylistic structure rather than the plot of the story. (2) In sendratari, Javanese music and dance are integral parts in the performance of Ramayana, whereas the complicated expression by Javanese language and the traditional system of thought such as Javanese mysticism are excluded from the performance. Abstract: The seismological records of past events provide insight into the seismic activities in an area. They help in preparing long-term plans to manage earthquake disasters. We present a system to display and analyse historical seismological data using the Java-based software application Kampan 2006. This interactive multi-purpose tool can display and analyse seismological data with a simple click of the mouse. The design and development of Kampan 2006 strictly followed the concepts of software engineering. We used the programming capabilities of Java to the fullest extent in developing Kampan 2006.
