The mantis, Mesopteryx platycephala, is redescribed with digital images. Although known from Assam, West Bengal and other areas, the mantis is not recently collected or illustrated from India so far and is perhaps a rare species. This short note aims to fill up the lacuna. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents a report on the first roach recovered from the Kota Formation assigned to a genus of Mesoblattinidae, a family well known from the Middle Jurassic through the Late Cretaceous including amber inclusions. The Archimesoblatta Vrsansky is an elongated mesoblattinid roaches with subparallel forewing margins, veins strongly curved proximally and with secondary branches present apically. The new species Archimesoblatta has relatively more simplified venation with only 15 branches to R and relative small size reaching only 9.5mm when complete. It expects richer abundance of material and more thorough characterization of the roach Archimesoblatta with further exploration in India.
