The section of "Yarn Hairiness Update" focuses on the quality of sewing threads. An experiment was conducted to assess the quality of commercial sewing threads by taking into account some basic factors like strength, luster, uniformity and dye-uptake capacity. It measured the physical properties of seventeen different sewing threads found on the Indian market, including four types made from cotton, five types made from polyester fibre and three types made from nylon. Several other parameters for testing included twist factor, diameter, yarn hairiness, loop strength and yarn-to-needle abrasion-resistance.
