The article reports on the outbreak of severe respiratory illness in Missouri and Illinois in 2014. Topics discussed include the link of Enterovirus D68 with the increase in the number of patients who were hospitalized due to severe respiratory disease, clinical symptoms of enterovirus disease, treatment and management of enterovirus disease, and molecular techniques used to identify enterovirus.
