From March 14th to 16th, 2022, the Iberian Peninsula experienced an unprecedented invasion of dust from the Sahara. The African dust caused PM10 particle concentration records of up to 325 μg/m³ on the Peninsula and up to 600 μg/m³ in the Canary Islands. The phenomenon was caused by a storm that formed from an isolated depression at high levels and a surface storm. The dust moved towards the Iberian Peninsula and a high concentration was recorded in some areas of Spain. The storm moved towards the central Mediterranean, spreading the dust to other areas of Europe and Asia. [Extracted from the article]
