The present paper analyses two textbook series of two publishing houses (Mozaik Kiado, Nemzeti Tankonyvkiado) regarding the degree to which they reflect the fundamental idea of sustainable development. Both textbook series cover global environmental problems focusing on sustainable development, however, neither of them presents the nature - society - environment interactions consistently over four academic years. On the other hand, there are differences between the two series: textbooks of the Mozaik Kiado present the foundations of sustainable development in a more balanced way demonstrating their relationship better than the books of the Nemzeti Tankonyvkiado. Among the latter, the textbook for level 10 students became especially economy focused while both society and environmental problems are treated as subordinate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
