The article focuses on the Penn State Hershey Center for Pediatric Cardiovascular Research in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The objective of the center is to develop new technologies to minimize the adverse effects of cardiac surgery in children with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and mechanical circulatory support. Some of the current projects of the center include a study on the effects of pulsatile flow on vital organ recovery and a study to develop a new approach to measure plasma cytokine.
