Background: Pulses are having a number of constraints in their production as compared to their potential in India. Green gram is an important pulse crop of the country after chickpea and pigeonpea lacks optimum fertilizer management, which leads in reduced growth and yield. The current study aimed to study the effects of different levels of potassium and zinc application on growth, yield attributes, yield and quality of green gram. Methods: The field study was conducted during Kharif 2018 at Regional Research Station, CCS HAU, Bawal on green gram cultivar MH-421. The experiment was laid out in a split-plot design with three replications and treatments comprising four levels of potassium in main plots (0, 10, 20 and 30 kg K2O ha-1) and four levels of zinc in subplots (0, 12.5, 25 and 37.5 kg ZnSO4 ha-1). Result: The results indicated that growth parameters like plant height, number of branches, number of pods, number of seeds and dry matter production were released due to the application of potassium and zinc. The number of nodules, their fresh weight and quality parameters like protein content and seed index significantly increased with the application of potassium up to 20 kg K2O ha-1, but non-significant increment with zinc application. Seed and straw yield increased significantly with potassium and zinc application up to the levels of 20 kg K2O ha-1 and 25 kg ZnSO4 ha-1, respectively. Higher net monetary returns of Rs. 31528 ha-1 with B:C ratio (1.61) was recorded under the treatment combination K20Zn25 (20 kg K2O ha-1 along with 25 kg ZnSO4 ha-1). It was concluded that higher green gram yield with better quality and more net return was achieved when potassium and zinc were applied @ 20 kg K2O ha-1 and 25 kg ZnSO4 ha-1, respectively. This article discusses a study conducted in Western Haryana, India, which examined the impact of wind speed on the distribution uniformity of a sprinkler irrigation system. The study used catch-cans to measure the amount of water applied under different wind conditions. The results showed that the distribution uniformity was highest at wind speeds of 0-4 km/h, followed by 4-8 km/h and 8-12 km/h. Cotton is a significant commercial fibre crop. It is one of the most important cash crops in the Indian economy. The current study attempts to understand the growth rates and variability in area, production, and productivity of cotton crop in India's north cotton zone using the secondary data for the period of 40 years (from 1980-81 to 2019-20). Results revealed that during the last 4 decades, area under cotton was found to be decreased in Punjab whereas in Haryana and Rajasthan there was significant increase in area under cotton. The annual growth rate of area under cotton was found to be reducing significantly in Punjab (-1.90%) whereas in Haryana (3.54%) and Rajasthan (5.79%), it was increasing significantly. On the other side, productivity has shown a significant increase of 1.70 per cent, 1.43 per cent and 2.43 per cent in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, respectively. In the case of cotton higher variability in productivity and production was observed in comparison to wheat and paddy. Highest instability in production was observed in Rajasthan (40.86%) followed by Punjab (34.29%) and Haryana (22.33%). whereas at national level it was 21.86 per cent. As far as productivity is concerned, highest variability was observed in Rajasthan (29.73%), followed by Punjab (29.53%) and Haryana (24.19%). Indigenous fruit trees, though critical to the local livelihoods in many areas across the world, continue to receive little research and policy attention. In this study, we recorded the perceptions of Indian jujube (ber) growers of Haryana, India, to understand how social-ecological stressors were impacting their livelihoods and how they were responding to the constraints being faced using their own creativity and institutional recommendations. Data were recorded through an exploratory research design combining both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Principal component analysis and variables factor map revealed differential contributions of orchard attributes and adaptive practices to the variability in individual principal components as well as to the cumulative variation. It emerged that despite serious challenges like poor access to the markets, feeble institutional support and the problems of salinity and fresh water scarcity, a large majority (80.0%) of the respondents had moderate to high willingness to continue ber cultivation. Our respondents were almost unanimous that environmentally resilient nature and low input needs make ber an attractive option for the resource-scarce local conditions. We noted, however, that hardy tree nature alone may not be a guarantee to ber groves' sustainability in the long run and that doable interventions were inevitable to insulate the growers' livelihoods from risks. Specifically, increased adoption of proven technologies (e.g. mulching, drip irrigation), linking farmers to the markets and organizing them into groups for the pooled use of resources seem absolutely essential to sustain ber-based production systems in face of such challenges. A new high yielding medium maturing white tuber potato variety Kufri Thar-3 was bred for cultivation in northern plains of India. At most of the places, Kufri Thar-3 gave higher yield than the best medium maturing cultivars. This variety performed well both under early-medium (75 days) and medium (90 days) crop durations. This variety was recommended for release for Transgangetic plains, Upper Gangetic plains, Eastern plateau and hills region. Specific areas for its adaptation are Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This variety is likely to be a good replacement for medium maturing cultivars like Kufri Pukhraj. An important feature of this variety is that it is a water use efficient variety. This variety has better yield performance both under normal and water stress conditions. Under water stress condition, the yield of Kufri Thar-3 was 22.2% higher than control. Under normal irrigation treatment, Kufri Thar-3 gave 22.3% higher yield than control. Based on mean of all trials Kufri Thar-3 saved 38.2 liters water per kilogram of tuber produced which is 26.8% less water requirement than control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In the world, helminthiasis is the major public health problem in school-age children. More than 60 million school-age children live in intensively transmitted areas and they need immediate treatment and preventive interventions. Methodology: The study was conducted in the rural government schools of Block Beri, District Jhajjar (Haryana), India, and the study was descriptive and cross-sectional in design. The study recruited 300 school-going children in the age group of 6–10 years. Results: In this study, the mean age of subjects was 7.68 ± 1.467 years and prevalence of soil-transmitted helminths was 28.7%. The association between practice of hand washing and practice of washing fruits and vegetables with helminthic children were found statistically significant. Conclusion and Recommendation: Impart health education among community through primary care physician about wash hands before eating food and after defecation, washed thoroughly raw and uncooked food before eating. Background: The dengue infection has become a major global public health problem and 40% of the world's population living in an area at risk for dengue and causing nearly 400 million infections every year. There is no specific treatment for dengue, but if there is proper case management then case fatality rates can be below 1%. Aim and Objectives: To study the knowledge and practice about dengue fever in a rural community of Haryana. Methodology: The study recruited 400 adults (15-60 years) and all subjects were selected randomly from survey registers of eight anganwadi centres and data was collected by visiting house to house. Results: The association between demographic variables and knowledge about dengue fever and found out that only caste wise and socio-economic wise were found to be statistically significant rest associations were found to be statistically non-significant. An evaluation for the development work done in the two watersheds, viz. Bunga and Dabkauri in Panchkula District, Haryana was carried out for 2004 and 2007. Satellite digital data of LISS-IV sensor for 2004 and merge product of LISS-III and PAN for 2007 was used. The data was interpreted for their land use/land cover classes for both the years. The data shows that there is an increase of 33.93% in crop land area. There is a substantial decrease of 97.84% in agricultural fallow land, i.e. land without scrub and sparse vegetation on hills also decreased during the period. Dense vegetation area, i.e. forest plantations on the hills and in the Piedmont area was increased.
