The North Pacific right whale (hereafter NPRW), I Eubalaena japonica i , is currently divided into two populations, eastern and western (Brownell et al., 2001). The 2012 cruise occurred between July 13 and September 10 in the northern GoA, the 2017 cruise occurred from July 3 to September 25 in the eastern Bering Sea, and the 2018 cruise occurred from July 3 to September 25 in the central Bering Sea (Figure 1).
