The article analyzes the idea of cultural disruption and the emergence of the Bromme culture after the eruption of the Laacher See volcano during the late AllerØd period in Rheinland-Palatinate, Germany. It challenges the hypothesis of author Felix Riede on the rise of cultural disruption and isolation because of the difficulty to maintain cultural contacts after the eruption. The amount of tephra found after the eruption and the distribution of the Federmesser groups are also analyzed.
