The article focuses on the post hoc analysis from an observational study of the patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Germany that would provide insights into effectiveness of vildagliptin compared with sulfonylurea in combination with metformin. It mentions that the association of vildagliptin reduces glycated hemoglobin HbA1c and less hypoglycemia while with sulfonylurea the patients shows weight gain problem but no evidence of hypoglycemia.
