Purpose: Autistic camouflaging is a collection of strategies used to hide autistic characteristics. It can have serious consequences on autistic people's mental health and needs to be addressed and measured in clinical practice. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the psychometric properties of the French adaptation of the Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire., Methods: 1227 participants (744 autistic, 483 non-autistic) answered the French version of the CAT-Q in an online survey or on paper. Confirmatory factor analysis, measurement invariance testing, internal consistency analysis (McDonald's ω), and convergent validity with the DASS-21 depression subscale were conducted. Test-rest reliability was assessed on a sample of 22 autistic volunteers using intraclass correlation coefficient., Results: A good fit was found for the original three-factor structure as well as a good internal consistency, excellent test-retest reliability and highly significant convergent validity. Measurement invariance testing indicates however that the meaning behind items is different for autistic vs. non-autistic people., Conclusion: The French version of the CAT-Q can be used in clinical settings to assess camouflaging behaviors and intent to camouflage. Further research is needed to clarify the camouflage construct and whether reported measurement noninvariance are due to cultural differences or a true difference in what camouflaging might mean for non-autistic people., (© 2023. This study aimed to assess the potential impact of long-term chronic exposure (69 years) to naturally-occurring radionuclides (RNs) and heavy metals on microbial communities in sediment from a stream flowing through a watershed impacted by an ancient mining site (Rophin, France). Four sediment samples were collected along a radioactivity gradient (for 238 U368 to 1710 Bq.Kg -1 ) characterized for the presence of the bioavailable fractions of radionuclides ( 226 Ra, 210 Po), and trace metal elements (Th, U, As, Pb, Cu, Zn, Fe). Results revealed that the available fraction of contaminants was significant although it varied considerably from one element to another (0 % for As and Th, 5-59 % for U). Nonetheless, microbial communities appeared significantly affected by such chronic exposure to (radio)toxicities. Several microbial functions carried by bacteria and related with carbon and nitrogen cycling have been impaired. The high values of fungal diversity and richness observed with increasing downstream contamination (H' = 4.4 and Chao1 = 863) suggest that the community had likely shifted toward a more adapted/tolerant one as evidenced, for example, by the presence of the species Thelephora sp. and Tomentella sp. The bacterial composition was also affected by the contaminants with enrichment in Myxococcales, Acidovorax or Nostocales at the most contaminated points. Changes in microbial composition and functional structure were directly related to radionuclide and heavy metal contaminations, but also to organic matter which also significantly affected, directly or indirectly, bacterial and fungal compositions. This paper aims to prove the feasibility of a 4D monitoring solution (3D modeling and temporal monitoring) for the sandbar and to characterize the species' role in the landscape. The developed solution allows studying the interaction between the river dynamics and vegetation using a network of low resolution and low power sensors. The issues addressed concern the feasibility of implementing a photogrammetry solution using low-resolution sensors as well as the choice of the appropriate sensor and its testing according to different configurations (image capture and storage on the sensor and/or image transmission to a centralization node) and also the detailed analysis of the different phases of the process (camera initialization, image capture, network transmission and selection of the most appropriate standby mode). We reveal that the tiny, low-cost board (ESP32-Cam) can perform a 3D reconstruction and propose using the camera's UXGA (1600, 1200) resolution because of the quality rendering and energy consumption. A multi-node scenario based on a combined Wi-Fi and GSM relay is proposed in the study showing several years of autonomy for the system. Finally, to illustrate the energy cost of the module, we have defined a study process, where we have identified and quantified one by one the different phases of operation of the card for better energy optimization (setup, camera configuration, shooting, saving on SD card, or sending by Wi-Fi). The device is now operational for deployment on the Allier River (France).

Objectives: Negative aging stereotypes make older adults perform below their true potential in a number of cognitive domains. This phenomenon, known as Age-Based Stereotype Threat, is currently viewed as a powerful factor contributing to an overestimation of cognitive decline in normal aging. However, age-based stereotype threat has been investigated almost exclusively in Western countries. Whether this phenomenon is universal or culture-specific is unknown., Method: Here, we first ran a pilot study (N = 106) in which we assessed French and Indian participants' attitudes towards aging. Then, we assessed stereotype threat effects on arithmetic problem-solving performance and strategies in French and Indian older adults (N = 104)., Results: We found that French older adults have more negative implicit attitudes towards aging than Indian older adults. We also found that culture modulates age-based stereotype threat effects. Whereas French older adults experienced stereotype threat on both selection and execution of strategies on all arithmetic problems, Indian older adults experienced this threat only in their strategy selection on harder problems. Most interestingly, cultural differences emerged on arithmetic problems under stereotype threat condition, where otherwise no cultural differences were found in the control condition., Discussion: Our findings have important implications for understanding how cultural contexts change aging effects on human cognition and age-related difference in cognitive performance., (© The Author(s) 2020. Uranium mining and milling activities raise environmental concerns due to the release of radioactive and other toxic elements. Their long-term management thus requires a knowledge of past events coupled with a good understanding of the geochemical mechanisms regulating the mobility of residual radionuclides. This article presents the results on the traces of anthropic activity linked to previous uranium (U) mining activities in the vicinity of the Rophin tailings storage site (Puy de Dôme, France). Several complementary approaches were developed based on a study of the site's history and records, as well as on a radiological and chemical characterization of soil cores and a dendrochronology. Gamma survey measurements of the wetland downstream of the Rophin site revealed a level of 1050 nSv.h -1 . Soil cores extracted in the wetland showed U concentrations of up to 1855 mg.kg -1 , which appears to be associated with the presence of a whitish silt loam (WSL) soil layer located below an organic topsoil layer. Records, corroborated by prior aerial photographs and analyses of 137 Cs and 14 C activities, suggest the discharge of U mineral particles while the site was being operated. Moreover, lead isotope ratios indicate that contamination in the WSL layer can be discriminated by a larger contribution of radiogenic lead to total lead. The dendroanalysis correlate U emissions from Rophin with the site's history. Oak tree rings located downstream of the site contain uranium concentrations ten times higher than values measured on unaffected trees. Moreover, the highest U concentrations were recorded not only for the operating period, but more surprisingly for the recent site renovations as well. Uranium mining activities expose uranium ore and mine tailings to the surface environment, where the release of radionuclides is facilitated by weathering at rates exceeding those typically found in nature. Therefore, close to former uranium mining sites, radionuclides and especially uranium concentrations in water may surpass local background levels. The methodology proposed herein, entails coupling, gamma-ray mapping, water sampling and chemical analyses including DGT (Diffusive Gradient in Thin Film) measurements, provides new insights into describing the environment of the La Commanderie site (France). Gamma-ray mapping allows identifying water seepage, output from a waste rock pile, as a potential pathway for radionuclides into the environment. Water seepage monitoring has shown: a low pH value (4.2), high sulfate content (179 mg.L -1 ) and high uranium concentrations of up to 436 μg.L -1 . These recordings indicate that an acid mining drainage (AMD) process is occurring inside or under the oxidized parts of the waste rock pile. Monitoring data over three flow periods revealed the release of the highest uranium concentrations during a high-flow period downstream of the site, which is compliant with local regulations. The AMD process is also responsible for the release of significant amounts of Fe, Mn and As within the immediate environment in both dissolved and particulate forms. Changes in dissolved oxygen concentration and redox potential during low flow periods, modify the speciation of Fe (in AMD waters) which acts as a scavenger for other elements such as As, Mn and U. The use of DGT under environmental conditions, and specifically AMD waters, seems to be relevant in comparison to filtered spot water sampling strategies. Moreover, based on DGT measurements, the dissolved part of the released uranium is considered as labile with concentrations above the environmental standards for freshwater organisms., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier Ltd. Temporal processing in French children with dyslexia was evaluated in three tasks: a word identification task requiring implicit temporal processing, and two explicit temporal bisection tasks, one in the auditory and one in the visual modality. Normally developing children matched on chronological age and reading level served as a control group. Children with dyslexia exhibited robust deficits in temporal tasks whether they were explicit or implicit and whether they involved the auditory or the visual modality. First, they presented larger perceptual variability when performing temporal tasks, whereas they showed no such difficulties when performing the same task on a non-temporal dimension (intensity). This dissociation suggests that their difficulties were specific to temporal processing and could not be attributed to lapses of attention, reduced alertness, faulty anchoring, or overall noisy processing. In the framework of cognitive models of time perception, these data point to a dysfunction of the 'internal clock' of dyslexic children. We examined the macroscopic aspects of motor planning in two manual dexterity tasks, comparing children, adolescents, and young adults with trisomy 21 (T21) with typically developing controls from a developmental perspective. We analyzed the order in which objects were picked up from a table during two manual tasks of the Movement Assessment Battery for Children (M-ABC). Participants with T21 were always slower than controls. Task completion times depended on the strategy used by participants to gather up the pegs or coins. A structured strategy, in which the participants picked the items up moving methodically along each row/column, contributed to rapid task completion by younger children and participants with T21. This study highlights the ability of children with T21 to select and maintain an efficient strategy that takes account of their motor difficulties. Introduction: The aims of this study were to provide further evidence of validity and reliability for the Driving Anger Expression Inventory (DAX) French adaptation (Villieux & Delhomme, 2008, Le Travail Humain, 71(4), 359-384) and to investigate the relationships between driving anger, how people express their anger while driving, and traffic violations among young drivers in France., Method: The French adaptations of the DAX, of the Driving Anger Scale (DAS), and of the Extended Violations Scale were administered to a sample of 314 drivers., Results: Confirmatory factor analysis of the French DAX items yielded a three factors solution with 11 items, which obtained better goodness-of-fit to the data. Cronbach α reliabilities for DAX factors ranged from .71 to .79. Aggressive forms of anger expression correlated positively with driving anger and traffic violations whereas the 'Adaptive/Constructive Expression' factor correlated negatively with these variables., Discussion: Globally, our results replicated earlier findings and showed that DAX factors are useful predictors of self reported violations and complement established measures like the DAS., Impact on Industry: Implications for driver education and interventions were examined., (Copyright © 2010 National Safety Council and Elsevier Ltd. Speeding is one of the main factors of car crash-risk, but it also contributes to increasing air-pollution. In two studies we attempted to lead drivers to abide by speed limits using "reducing air-pollution" as a new argument. We presented prevention messages that highlighted the role of speeding in increasing "crash-risk", "air-pollution", or both (Studies 1 and 2). The messages were also positively or negatively framed (Study 2). Given that women are more concerned with environmental issues than are men, we expected the following hypotheses to be validated for women. The message with the "air-pollution" argument was expected to be evaluated more positively than the "crash-risk" message (H1). The "air-pollution" and "crash-risk and air-pollution" messages were expected to be more effective than the "crash-risk" message on the behavioral intention to observe speed limits (H2a) and on the perceived efficacy of speed-limit observance in reducing air-pollution (H2b; Studies 1 and 2). Furthermore, positive framing was expected to be more effective than negative framing (H3), and presenting a message to be more effective than presenting no message (H4; Study 2). Broadly, our results argue in favor of our hypotheses. However in Study 2, the effects of message framing did not allow us to conclude that negative or positive framing was superior. All in all, messages with the "air-pollution" argument were more effective at leading drivers to observe speed limits. Thus, environmental protection may be a fruitful route to explore for increasing road safety.

Recent developments of grid services for secured distributed data management open new perspectives for disease surveillance. In this paper, we report on our initiative to develop a surveillance network for breast cancer in the Auvergne region. The network gathers cytopathology laboratories, structures in charge of cancer screening and institutes in charge of cancer epidemiology. Data stored in cytopathology laboratories are queried through the grid for the purpose of second diagnosis and to produce statistical indicators. The paper describes the network goal and design and discusses specific issues related to patient identification and security.

A mixed foot-in-the-door procedure was set up to lead offenders participating in French driver-rehabilitation training courses to commit to complying with speed limits. To improve this procedure, the reasons that led participants in such courses to commit or not were investigated in this preliminary study of the road safety research programs. The study participants were 89 men (M=34 yr., range = 18-64 yr., SD=13) attending driver-rehabilitation courses. Among them, 55% committed. The commitment was mainly explained by the drivers' will to change their speeding behaviour and their refusal by the perceived positive consequences of speeding. Moreover, some participants stated that they would be unable to follow through with the commitment to comply strictly with speed limits. After talking to the participants, it became clear that complying with speed limits was understood in a more or less strict way. In subsequent studies, some of the reasons given were used to prompt group discussion before asking participants to commit, and the meaning of "compliance with speed limits" was better defined.

The paper describes a platform developed for the secure management and analysis of medical data and images in a grid environment. Designed for telemedicine and built upon the EGEE gLite middleware and particularly the metadata catalogue AMGA as well as the GridSphere web portal, the platform provides to healthcare professionals the capacity to upload and query medical information stored over distributed servers. A job submission environment is also available for data analysis. Security features include authentication and authorization by grid certificates, anonymization of medical data and image encryption. The platform is currently deployed on several sites in Europe and Asia and is being customized for applications in the field of telemedicine and medical physics.
