In keeping with requirements for receiving Federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds, communities must periodically conduct an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice study, examining barriers to fair housing. Fair housing choice is dependent on a relatively broad list of factors, including legal and economic access to fair housing, as well as those dimensions of housing that are related to the immediate living environment of an individual. Home, work, income, education, health care, safety, public hygiene, and family are the core of any life. In this paper, we summarize the findings from the Impediments to Fair Housing Choice in Jacksonville, Florida conducted between 2004 and 2005, outlining specific impediments and recommendations for their remediation.. The full Impediments report represents the outcome of an extensive research effort, examining a wide range of data and information sources and addressing a large number of community issues. In the full report, the research team examines how the realities (both physical and social), reflected in the structures and attitudes within the immediate living environment, affect fair housing choice. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
