The article reports on the move made by the state government of Florida to finance the expansion of the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Saint Lucie County. It states that Florida has offered $118 million for the expansion of the university's Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute (VGTI). According to OHSU, one of the main reason for its expansion to Florida was because government officials there are aggressive in funding research facilities to breed a biotechnology industry. VGTI, which has 90 staff working for seven principal investigators, are expecting to double in size when its Florida facility becomes operational.
