According to the survey, about $1.4 billion in major pan-European advertising assignments were made in 1990. As multinational advertisers consolidated spending, 106 accounts worth at least $3 million each moved during the year. Seventy-nine were new-business assignments. DDB Needham Worldwide Co. gained the largest dollar amount--$161 million--from 13 accounts. Second-biggest winner was Ogilvy & Mather Ltd. with $111 million in billings from six accounts, followed by J. Walter Thompson Co. with $107 million for six accounts and Lintas: Worldwide with $106 million for nine accounts. More than $840 million in pan-European business was assigned for accounts worth at least $10 million each.
