Background: Intranasal corticosteroids (INCS) are used for several conditions, including allergic rhinitis and sinusitis. Consequently, their safety profile needs continuous monitoring. This study aimed to analyse the adverse drug reactions (ADRs) of the INCS with market authorisation in Europe. Methods: A retrospective analysis of the ADR data from EudraVigilance in the period between the 1 January 2011 and 12 June 2023 was performed, with 2641 reports selected for analysis. ADRs were categorised by seriousness and evolution, with a focus on the most prevalent ADRs and their alignment with the Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC). Results: The 18–64 age group, particularly females, was most affected. Mometasone was the most reported INCS, with predominantly non-serious ADRs, evolving towards resolution, which often were not listed in the SmPC. From the reported ADRs that were not described in the SmPC of the INCS studied, "Anosmia" and "Ageusia" were highlighted. Regarding the ADRs described in the SmPC, the most frequently reported were "Epistaxis" and "Headache". The ADRs belonging to the Designated Medical Event list were also analysed, with "Angioedema" as the most reported ADR, which was mainly associated with budesonide. Conclusions: These findings underscore the importance of continuous INCS monitoring to mitigate ADRs and safeguard public health. The clinical spectrum of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection is mixed. It ranges from asymptomatic cases, medium‐intensity forms with mild to moderate symptoms, to severe ones with bilateral lung involvement and respiratory distress, which can require transfer to ICUs and intubation. In most cases, the clinical picture is characterized by a persistent fever, cough, dyspnoea, expectoration, myalgias, arthralgias, headache, gastrointestinal symptoms, nasal congestion, and pharyngodynia. The spread of COVID‐19 in Europe has highlighted an atypical presentation of disease involving upper airways and, above all, dysfunction of olfactory and gustatory senses. There is ample evidence that COVID‐19 is significantly less severe in children than in adults. However, due to difficulties in assessing the disorder in children, especially among very young patients, the olfaction and gustatory dysfunctions remain open issues. Objectives: It has been demonstrated that reduction in smell and/or taste is the most predictive symptom in SARS-CoV-2/Covid-19 infection. We used Google Trends to analyze regional searches relating to loss of smell and taste across Italy, Spain, France, Brazil, and the United States of America and determined the association with reported Covid-19 cases.Methods: In order to retrieve the data, we built a Python software program that provides access to Google Trends data via an application program interface. Daily COVID-19 case data for subregions of the five countries selected were retrieved from respective national health authorities. We sought to assess the association between raw search interest data and COVID-19 new daily cases per million for all regions individually.Results: In total, we yielded 2188 sets of Google Trends data which included 548 time series of 4 anosmia and ageusia search concepts over the study period for 137 regions. These data indicated that differences in search interest for terms relating to anosmia and ageusia, between regions, is associated with geographical trends in new Covid-19 cases.Conclusions: We feel that Google search trends relating to loss of smell can be utilized to identify potential Covid-19 outbreaks on a national and regional basis. Over the course of the pandemic due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), multiple new clinical manifestations, as the consequence of the tropism of the virus, have been recognized. That includes now the neurological manifestations and conditions, such as headache, encephalitis, as well as olfactory and taste disorders. We present a series of ten cases of RT-PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2-infected patients diagnosed with viral-associated olfactory and taste loss from four different countries.
