The article presents the origin and development of copper metallurgy in Southeastern Europe. It presented how the early search for flint stones during the Paleolithic era had lead to the formation of copper mines at Rudna Glava. It discusses how the prehistoric miners gathered ore, flint stones and mineral deposits from the pit. The analysis conducted on the pottery discovered from the mines found out that it belongs to the transitional stage of Vinča culture during the second half of the fifth millennium B.C.
