The article focuses on the journey of the Red Rose Crew in the international boat racing competition. It states that the crew arrived in England with an inexperienced boat and crew to compete for the world championship. It says that the U.S. women rowers were able to defeat the heavyweights of Soviet Union and West Germany on the series of race in Nottingham, England wherein they posed for pictures and receive their silver medals for winning the last race. Moreover, the crew were able to arrive in the international racing competition and view themselves as serious contenders for a gold medal in the next Olympics, after the years of borrowing equipment and with little training. It adds that Harry Parker, the coach of men's crew at Harvard University, also coached the women rowers.
