The article discusses the depiction of Queen Anne Boleyn of England in art and drama. It states that life of Boleyn has been depicted in several operas, paintings and poetry. It offers information on Gaetano Donizetti's opera "Anna Bolena," and compares the event in opera with historical events. It is stated that after coronation of her daughter Elizabeth as queen of England, Boleyn was glorified in operas as a martyr of English Reformation and adultery charges against her were dismissed.
